We are now looking for a Finance Manager in our Kampala (Uganda) office, that will lead Coffee Financial Team in the country. The Finance Manager will oversee all financial operations of the Uganda-based coffee subsidiary, including factory operations, procurement from local farmers, and export sales to the parent company. The role ensures strong financial control, accurate reporting, compliance with local regulations, and alignment with group policies. The position will also support operational efficiency, cost control, and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all transactions.
- Maintain general ledger integrity and oversee accounting processes in line with group standards.
- Supervise accounts payable, receivable, payroll inputs, and expense processing.
- Ensure proper documentation, authorization, and audit trail for all transactions.
- Monitor and enforce internal controls across finance and operational activities.
- Oversee cash flow planning, ensuring adequate liquidity for procurement, operations, and capital expenditures.
- Manage bank relationships and optimize fund movements between local operations and the parent company.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and monitor cash positions.
- Prepare short- and medium-term cash flow forecasts.
- Partner with procurement teams to track and control coffee purchases from local farmers.
- Monitor pricing, payment cycles, and working capital requirements during harvest seasons.
- Ensure accurate recording of inventory and cost of goods (green coffee, processing, logistics).
- Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Oversee financial aspects of factory operations, including production costing and yield analysis.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation (raw, WIP, finished goods) and reconciliation with physical stock.
- Monitor factory overheads and processing costs against budgets.
- Support operational teams with cost analysis and performance insights.
- Manage financial accounting for export sales to the Netherlands parent company.
- Ensure proper invoicing, transfer pricing compliance, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Coordinate with logistics teams to track export-related costs (freight, insurance, handling).
- Monitor foreign currency exposure and support FX management strategies.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting cycles.
- Track actual performance against budgets and provide variance analysis.
- Support capital expenditure planning and investment appraisals.
- Provide financial insights to support strategic decisions and operational improvements.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in line with group requirements.
- Ensure timely submission of financial data to the parent company.
- Align local accounting practices with group policies and IFRS standards.
- Act as the key finance liaison between Uganda operations and headquarters.
- Ensure compliance with local tax laws, statutory requirements, and regulatory filings in Uganda.
- Manage VAT, corporate tax, withholding tax, and other statutory obligations.
- Coordinate external audits and internal reviews.
- Maintain proper documentation for tax audits and regulatory inspections.
- Track and report financials related to sustainability.
- Monitor project budgets and ensure compliance with funding requirements (if applicable).
- Support reporting to partners, donors, or certification bodies.
- Drive improvements in financial systems, reporting tools, and ERP implementation.
- Promote digitalization of payments and financial processes.
- Strengthen financial controls, efficiency, and transparency across operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA/ACCA preferred).
- 8+ years of relevant experience, preferably in agriculture, manufacturing, or commodities.
- Experience in export-oriented businesses and intercompany transactions is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of inventory accounting and cost management.
- Familiarity with Ugandan tax and regulatory environment is a plus.
- Experience working with international groups or multinational companies is a plus.

Additional Notes:
- The role requires a balance of hands-on execution and strategic financial oversight.
- Presence on-site at the factory is essential to ensure strong operational alignment.
- Based in Uganda, Kampala.
