Espaze - Cofounder - Marketing & Sales

ESPAZE WAREHOUSE SOLUTIONS LLP.10 - 15 yrs.Metros/Delhi NCR/Bangalore

Company Overview:

ESPAZE WAREHOUSE SOLUTIONS LLP (Espaze) is on a mission to digitise India's community markets. Every neighbourhood has a market - mandis, wholesale hubs, general stores, and specialist retailers across produce, grocery, staples, packaged goods, household essentials, and more - that together move the bulk of India's daily commerce, almost entirely offline. Espaze brings these multi-category wholesalers and retailers online without asking them to hold extra inventory: a digital storefront, catalogue and order management, and partner-fleet last-mile delivery, so the market itself becomes the fulfilment network. Our consumer offering, Rocket by Espaze, is live in Rohini, Delhi, delivering from local mandis and community markets to doorsteps in minutes. The platform runs on a proprietary microservices stack with Flutter apps for sellers and customers. Espaze is a Bengaluru-headquartered, early-stage, founder-led company: fast, data-driven, and building the alternative to dark-store quick commerce.

Role Overview:

As Cofounder - Marketing & Sales, you will own Espaze's commercial engine end to end. Working alongside the founding team, you will define how we bring wholesalers and retailers across categories onto the platform, how we win and retain customers through Rocket by Espaze, and how we turn one digitised market into a repeatable city-by-city playbook. You will own the revenue strategy, the brand, and the unit economics of every order, and you will be a core voice in fundraising conversations with institutional investors and grant bodies. This is a build-from-zero role: there is no sales organisation yet, and you will create it.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Go-To-Market Strategy:

- Design and execute the Go-To-Market playbook for digitising community markets one at a time, starting with Delhi NCR and extending to Bengaluru and other metros.

2. Supply-Side Growth:

- Own supply-side growth across categories: onboard, activate, and retain wholesalers, mandi vendors, kirana and general stores, and specialist retailers (produce, grocery, staples, FMCG, household) onto the Espaze Seller app, building a field sales and merchant-success function to do it at scale.

3. Demand-Side Growth:

- Own demand-side growth: drive customer acquisition, repeat rates, and basket size for Rocket by Espaze through hyperlocal marketing, performance channels, referrals, and community-led campaigns.

- Build B2B demand: sell Espaze's wholesale supply to restaurants, hotels, offices, and smaller retailers who currently buy from the market in person.

4. Commercial P&L and Partnerships:

- Manage the commercial P&L, including customer acquisition cost, contribution margin per order, delivery-partner economics, and marketing spend, with a clear path to profitable markets.

- Build strategic partnerships with 3PL and hyperlocal delivery providers (e.g., Rapido, Porter, Shadowfax, Borzo), market and trader associations, and wholesale hubs.

5. Brand Building:

- Establish and grow the Espaze and Rocket by Espaze brands so that Espaze becomes the recognised platform for India's digitised community markets among traders, consumers, and investors.

6. Fundraising and Leadership:

- Partner with the CEO on fundraising - seed and institutional rounds, and government/incubator programmes - by owning the commercial narrative, traction metrics, and market-sizing in the pitch.

- Recruit, lead, and mentor a high-performance sales, field operations, and marketing team.

7. Product Feedback Loop:

- Feed trader and customer insight back into product, pricing, and catalogue decisions so product-market fit sharpens with every market launched.

Required Skillset:

- 1. Demonstrated track record of scaling revenue and owning a P&L in a high-growth startup, ideally in quick commerce, B2B commerce, hyperlocal delivery, or marketplaces.

- 2. Hands-on experience acquiring and activating wholesalers, distributors, kirana stores, or SMB merchants at scale - you understand field sales, trader relationships, and what makes a market participant switch on and stay on.

- 3. Proven ability to run consumer growth in a hyperlocal setting: launch playbooks, CAC/LTV management, retention, and neighbourhood-level marketing.

- 4. Strong grasp of quick-commerce and B2B distribution unit economics: order density, delivery cost per drop, contribution margin, credit and collections, and the levers that move them.

- 5. Experience structuring and negotiating partnerships with logistics providers, trade associations, and supply-side aggregators.

- 6. Financial acumen to build forecasts, budgets, and investor-ready business cases; comfort presenting to VCs, angels, and grant committees.

- 7. Ability to build and lead cross-functional teams from scratch with a bias for accountability and speed.

- 8. Excellent communication skills, capable of representing Espaze to investors, partners, press, and at industry forums - in English and Hindi, with regional languages a plus.

- 9. 8 - 15 years of professional experience, with time in quick commerce, B2B commerce (e.g., Udaan, Jumbotail, ElasticRun-type models), FMCG distribution, or hyperlocal logistics strongly preferred.

- 10. MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree from a premier institute preferred; founder or early-employee experience at a scaled consumer or B2B startup valued as much.

- 11. Willingness to be on the ground in launch markets (Delhi NCR initially) and to take cofounder-level equity as a meaningful part of compensation.
