Role Purpose:
To manage and execute proprietary equity trades for the organization's own book, generating consistent risk-adjusted returns within board-approved limits and the internal investment policy, while maintaining the highest standards of compliance, risk discipline, and operational accuracy in a treasury environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Trading & Portfolio Management:
- Execute proprietary trades in the equity cash and derivatives (F&O) segments on NSE/BSE in line with the approved investment policy and sanctioned limits.
- Manage the equity trading and investment portfolio end-to-end: idea generation, position sizing, entry/exit execution, hedging using index and stock derivatives and cash-futures arbitrage.
2. Market Analysis & Strategy:
- Track factors impacting equity markets on macro and micro levels on a continuous basis.
- Develop and articulate daily market views, trade rationales, and strategy notes for the Treasury Head and Investment Committee.
- Evaluate new instruments, strategies, and systems for the equity desk and present recommendations to management.
3. Risk Management & Compliance:
- Operate strictly within applicable RBI guidelines, SEBI regulations, exchange rules, and the internal investment and risk policy.
- Adhere to all desk-level risk limits - VaR, stop-loss, drawdown, single-stock, sector, and gross/net exposure limits - and escalate breaches to Risk Management immediately.
- Comply fully with SEBI (Prohibition of Insider Trading) Regulations and the company's code of conduct for personal and proprietary trading.
- Maintain complete deal records, blotters, and audit trails; support internal, concurrent, statutory, and regulatory audits and inspections.
Required Qualifications:
- Post Graduate in Commerce, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, MBA or a related discipline from a recognized university.
- NISM Series VIII - Equity Derivatives certification (mandatory).
- Minimum 5-7 years of equity dealing/trading experience with a bank treasury, financial institution, NBFC, AIF/PMS, or institutional broking desk.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience executing trades in the equity cash and derivatives (F&O) segments on NSE/BSE.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Professional qualifications such as CFA (CFA Institute), CA (ICAI), or CMT (Chartered Market Technician, CMT Association), FRM (GARP).
Competencies:
- Strong understanding of Indian equity markets, derivatives pricing, arbitrage strategies, and settlement mechanisms.
- Working knowledge of applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Proficiency in trading terminals, Bloomberg/Reuters etc., and Excel-based analytics; familiarity with treasury systems is a plus.
- Exposure to portfolio hedging, index arbitrage, and event-driven strategies.
