Job Summary : The Market Insights Consultant has experience of working on strategic secondary and qualitative primary research projects and can proactively identify opportunities for research and insights. She is able to utilize competitive intelligence methods to research competitive business practices, analyze retail/credit industry trends, compile and present summary reports and make recommendations. She can also design research projects in support of both external brand partners as well as internal departments to help guide tactical and strategic decision-making. She will have frequent interaction with internal partners as well as external brand partners. Responsibilities : - Track industry competitive trends and marketing efforts. Maintain industry and competitive monitoring processes within the department. Identify key trends relevant to various areas of the business and report out to internal and external parties when necessary - Research and compile competitive intelligence insights/reports. Identify key trends within retail/credit industries, determine relevance to various audiences and summarize and present findings to internal and external brand partners - Projects could include ongoing competitive intelligence tracking, industry analysis, company profiling, digital capability benchmarking, creating target audience personas to bring customer segments to life, performing category SWOT analyses, identifying best practices for specific marketing initiatives, providing stats on current consumer behavioral trends, etc. - Apart from direct project work, the consultant may have to mentor a small team of researchers in terms of providing guidance and reviewing work outputs Required skills : - Strong interest in consumer behavior and market place dynamics - Demonstrated knowledge of strategic research frameworks, PEST, SWOT, Value Chain Analysis, Porter's 5 Forces - Knowledge of some common paid secondary research data sources which could include: MRI, Mintel, Datamonitor, eMarketer, Kantar Retail IQ, Path-to Purchase Institute, Hoovers, and Lexis Nexis - Knowledge of basic financial statement analysis - Superior time management and organization skills - Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously under narrow time constraints - Excellent analytical, problem-solving and storytelling skills - Effectively uses numbers to gain understanding and/or illustrate a point - Independent self-starter who is persistent, resourceful, and inherently curious - Strong interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and consultative skills - Detail-oriented to ensure complete and accurate reporting - Prior experience of mentoring small teams would be a desirable - Prior experience in B2C industry sectors, exposure to US retail and/or consumer finance or credit services is will be highly preferred Qualifications : - MBA - 5-7 years of relevant professional experience - Experience of working in global research teams in an offshore setting
