Pragmatic JD - Engineering Manager (Hands-on) | Treasury & Capital Markets
Location: India - Hyderabad ( preference) , Mumbai( only for right candidate with strong conviction to manage remotely)
Role Summary:
We are looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager with strong technical expertise, solutioning skills, and financial domain knowledge (Treasury, Sell-side, or Buy-side). The role demands a mix of deep engineering skills, modernization experience, and AI-driven rapid coding. This leader will architect, design, and deliver next-generation Treasury & Markets platforms with high availability, resilience, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities - Engineering Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of 10-20 engineers across backend, frontend, and data engineering.
- Stay hands-on in architecture, coding, and design reviews (not just people management).
- Drive engineering excellence in clean code, CI/CD pipelines, observability, performance tuning, VAPT, and cloud-native best practices.
Solutioning & Modernization:
- Translate Treasury & Markets business problems (funding, risk, liquidity, Fixed Incomes, MM/FX, ALM) into end-to-end technology solutions.
- Architect and deliver microservices-based, event-driven, API-first platforms.
- Lead modernization journeys: monolith-to-microservices migration, cloud adoption (AWS/GCP/Azure), containerization (Kubernetes, Docker), streaming (Kafka/Pulsar).
- Re-engineer legacy workflows into real-time, scalable, and modular solutions.
AI-Enabled Engineering:
- Apply GenAI tools (Cursor, Copilot, ChatGPT, Tabnine, etc.) for rapid prototyping, code generation, and test automation.
- Drive use of ML/AI in cashflow forecasting, liquidity analytics, anomaly detection, risk monitoring.
- Promote an AI-first culture to improve developer productivity and speed of delivery.
Key Qualifications:
- 12-20 years in software engineering, with 5+ years managing high-performing technology teams.
- Strong coding background in Java, Python, C++, with hands-on experience in microservices and distributed systems.
- Practical experience with modernization projects: breaking monoliths, moving to cloud-native stacks, building scalable APIs.
- Domain knowledge in Treasury, ALM, Risk, MM, FX, or Buy-side/Sell-side trading workflows.
- Exposure to GenAI-assisted coding and ML-driven solutions.
- Proven record of delivering mission-critical, low-latency, high-resilience platforms in BFSI.
- Excellent stakeholder management with product owners, risk, operations, and global engineering teams.
