Reports To: General Manager - Central Engineering VX

1. Purpose:

- This position is primarily part of the Central engineering function of the new plant and is expected to provide day-to-day leadership and expertise in Reliability engineering activities at the manufacturing facility that analyse and evaluate the reliability of equipments, components and processes using engineering methodologies and tools.

- Aligns people, resources and methods with the critical objectives of improving Reliability in equipments and processes.

- This position is expected to make significant impact in maximising Overall Equipment Effectiveness by working on Reliability improvement, equipment de-bottlenecking projects and supporting the Preventive and Predictive maintenance activities of the key equipments ensuring high level of maintenance of machineries / equipment.

- This position is responsible for developing maintenance competence through regular training and capability building exercises of technicians and supervisors.

- This position is also expected to lead the key stay in business capex projects, sustainability KPIs, developmental initiatives in the plant in line with process de-bottlenecking, adopting latest technologies, newly evolving group standards / local standards / new products and/or manufacturing process.

2. Key Result Areas:

OEE & Continuous Improvement:

- OEE Tracking: Identify root causes of equipment failures, monitor OEE metrics, and execute targeted improvement projects to optimize batch consistency, reduce raw material waste, and increase throughput.

- Process Optimization: Implement Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Lean methodologies, engaging floor personnel to optimize production and safety.

Plant CAPEX Management:

- Budget Ownership: Formulate and manage the annual plant capital expenditure budget, ensuring all proposals meet ROI and payback thresholds.

- Project Execution: Lead CAPEX projects from concept through design, procurement, and execution, ensuring equipment installations are completed on time and within budget.

- Vendor Management: Negotiate with contractors, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers to secure optimal pricing and high-quality installations.

Safety & Compliance:

- Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations, particularly concerning dust collection and emission controls standard in refractory production.

- Implement and ensure compliance to all systems & processes as per the standards (LTT, Machine safety, PTW, Forklift, Electrical safety, etc.) required by the organisation.

- Ensure compliance to all applicable statutory compliances for plant machinery & utilities.

- Interact and manage relationship with the external statutory compliance authorities (e.g. Factories directorate, Electrical Inspector, Metrology Dept. etc.).

Cost:

- Plan and implement energy conservation initiatives.

- Initiate and sustain waste reduction initiatives.

- Reduce plant maintenance cost through reliability improvement.

3. Qualifications:

- Must: Bachelors degree in mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.

4. Experience:

- 11+ years of progressive engineering and maintenance experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role in a large / medium scale continuously operating (24X 7) production environment.

- Solid understanding of heavy manufacturing processes, ideally within monolithic refractory (castable, gunning mixes) or adjacent industries (cement, ceramics, steel).

- Execution of small and medium capital expenditure projects.

5. Knowledge:

- Strong proficiency in OEE tracking software, CAPEX financial analysis, and maintenance management systems (CMMS).

- Experience of using modern engineering principles & methodology (TPM, lean engineering, autonomous maintenance) including different problem-solving tools like 8D.

- Knowledge and experience in automation and robotics would be an added advantage.
