Role: Engineering Manager - AI & Data | Bangalore

We are a fast-growing startup building an AI-first omnichannel franchisee platform, empowering global consumer brands to expand seamlessly into new markets. Our solution leverages cutting-edge data architecture, agentic AI-driven automation, and intelligent insights to transform decision-making across marketing, supply chain, inventory, pricing, cataloguing, and category management.

Role Overview:

We seek an Engineering Manager to architect and scale our data and AI infrastructure, build decision augmentation engines, lead automation initiatives, and create robust monitoring systems. This is a unique opportunity to shape the technology backbone of a disruptive business model in global retail and ecommerce.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Architecture & Engineering

- Design and own end-to-end data architecture across multiple business functions.

- Build scalable, real-time data pipelines across brands, channels, and geographies.

- Maintain strong data governance, lineage, and quality.

2. AI & Automation

- Architect AI-first engines combining predictive and generative AI for business workflows.

- Deploy agentic AI systems to automate key processes in marketing, supply chain, pricing, catalogue ops, and category management.

- Lead MLOps practices for model deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

3. Systems Reliability & Monitoring

- Develop infrastructure anomaly detection and self-healing systems.

- Create AI-driven business KPI monitoring and alerting for stockouts, sales drops, and demand surges.

4. Leadership & Collaboration

- Hire, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering team.

- Instil a culture of innovation, experimentation, and speed.

- Align technology strategy closely with product, marketing, and supply chain business leaders.

Key Competencies & Skills:-

1. Technical:-

- Proven expertise in data engineering and architecture (SQL/NoSQL, cloud data warehouses, data lakes, streaming infrastructure such as Kafka/Kinesis).

- Extensive experience in building and deploying AI/ML systems: demand forecasting, dynamic pricing, anomaly detection, generative AI.

- Knowledge of agentic AI frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, orchestration tools).

- Hands-on coding ability (Python, Go, or Java); openness to AI code tools (Cursor, Copilot, etc).

- Experience with MLOps tools (Kubeflow, MLflow, SageMaker, Vertex AI).

- Full stack engineering background preferred.

2. Leadership:

- 8-10 years of engineering experience, with 3-4 years as a Manager/ Lead or EM handling small/medium-sized teams.

- Experience scaling teams in high-growth startups or enterprise AI/data platforms.

- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management.

- Experience in retail and/or ecommerce preferred.

- Ability to translate business challenges into scalable technical solutions.
