- Engineering Oversight: Head Engineering team, Interpret engineering drawings and specifications, applying GD&T principles to define part geometry and tolerances for the organization.
- Team Leadership: Lead and provide strategic guidance to engineering teams on GD&T interpretation and its application in manufacturing processes.
- Machining Expertise: Leverage expertise in machining processesincluding milling, turning, grinding, and EDMto optimize manufacturing operations and drive innovation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with machinists and CNC programmers to develop efficient machining strategies and tooling solutions.
- Design Leadership: Oversee the development of 3D models and CAD/CAM designs for manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and components, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
- Special Processes Management: Supervise special manufacturing processes such as welding, heat treatment, surface finishing, and additive manufacturing.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate with production, quality assurance, and cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and ensure timely delivery.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality issues identified during manufacturing, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Mentorship: Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and opportunities for professional development.
- Technical Support: Offer technical support to fabrication teams to optimize production processes and ensure high product quality.
- Machining Techniques Knowledge: Maintain a strong understanding of fabrication and machining techniques, including cutting, bending, welding, and assembly.
- Efficiency Initiatives: Drive initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, productivity, and safety across fabrication and machining operations.
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and quality enhancement through the application of lean manufacturing principles and advanced technologies.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 15-20+ years proven experience in Manufacturing engineering within a build-to-print manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of interpreting engineering drawings and build-to-print documentation.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Clearly incorporate GD&T symbols on engineering drawings to communicate geometric tolerances and specifications effectively and sound knowledge on GD&T is must
