We are seeking a highly experienced Head of Engineering to lead, systemize, and elevate CRAs entire engineering function. This role will oversee multidisciplinary engineering teams - Mechanical, Electrical, and Process Engineering, - with a strong foundation in mechanical design. The ideal leader will drive standardisation, ensure engineering discipline, streamline cross-functional workflows, and build scalable engineering systems that support CRAs product, project, and manufacturing goals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the entire Engineering Department (Design, Mechanical, Process, Electrical, Engineering Teams).
- Set the engineering vision, roadmap, and best practices in alignment with CRAs business and technology goals.
- Build and maintain a high-performance, multidisciplinary engineering structure with clear roles, responsibilities, and growth paths.
- Drive standardisation across all engineering processes, templates, workflows, and technical documentation.
- Own and elevate CRAs mechanical design and engineering outputensuring all deliverables are on time, cost-aligned, production-ready, and compliant.
- Work closely with project management, procurement, production, and quality teams to ensure smooth hand-off and execution.
- Translate process design into structured engineering deliverables: layout, mechanical, BOM, and compliance
- Set and enforce design standards, release workflows, and BOM coordination mechanisms
- Oversee simulation, virtual validation, and engineering analysis (e.g., FEA or DFM reviews)
- Lead technical troubleshooting and support root cause analysis in manufacturing or site issues
- Mentor the team, conduct performance reviews, and define training/upskilling programs
- Support commercial teams with inputs for proposals, compliance statements, and client submissions
- Spearhead R&D and NPD initiatives to support CRAs product innovation goals.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to ensure designs are optimised for fabrication, assembly, cost efficiency, and manufacturability.
- Work closely with the Production, Operations, and Fabrication teams to ensure engineering plans are practical, scalable, and aligned with production capabilities.
- Conduct pre-production design reviews, manufacturability assessments, and joint engineeringproduction validations to eliminate rework and ensure seamless execution.
Requirements:
- 10+ years in mechanical design and cross-functional engineering roles, ideally in custom or process-based equipment
- Proven team leadership experience; ability to build and manage multidisciplinary engineering team
- Deep understanding of fabrication, standards, and plant/mechanical systems.
- Experience with design tools: AutoCAD, Plant 3D, SolidWorks/Inventor, and FEA platforms
- Strong coordination ability across functions (project, production, procurement, quality, clients)
- Exposure to simulation/virtual validation and standards like ASME, ISO, EN 13480, etc.
