What you'll be doing in your role?

- You will play a pivotal role in leading consulting engagements and managing delivery teams working on complex business problems for our clients. As an Engagement Manager at Prequate, you will bridge the gap between strategic thinking and operational execution while ensuring high-quality client outcomes.

- You will lead teams solving client problems through structured consulting approaches that typically involve analysing the business context, diagnosing challenges, identifying root causes, developing strategic and operational solutions, simulating outcomes, designing executable plans, establishing milestones, overseeing implementation, and tracking results through measurable performance indicators.

- In addition to client delivery, you will be responsible for leading and developing consulting teams and practice mastery, ensuring work quality, guiding junior team members through analytical frameworks, and building strong consulting capabilities across the team.

What you'll be doing in the team?

Growth: ~20% of the time

A typical engagement in involves helping clients restructure or reorganize operating models, improve access to growth opportunities, proactively recommend strategies and support execution through structured analysis, deep handholding and deep insights.

As an Engagement Manager, you will lead and deliver with the assistance of an engagement team on engagements that may include initiatives like:

- Evaluating businesses to identify strategic growth opportunities

- Supporting financial modelling and business model optimization

Efficiency: ~30% of the time

A typical engagement in Strategic Finance Offices (SFO) involves helping clients improve financial governance, operating models, and decision-making frameworks through structured analysis and advisory.

As an Engagement Manager, you will lead and deliver with the assistance of an engagement team on engagements that may include initiatives like:

- Business diagnostics and financial performance analysis

- Management reporting frameworks and analytical MIS development

- Business efficiency and effectiveness mapping

- Business structuring, restructuring, and reorganization initiatives

- Development and implementation of management frameworks and governance tools

- Designing performance improvement and cost optimization measures

- Establishing risk advisory and control frameworks

Transactions: ~ 20% of the time

Prequate supports clients across investment banking and M&A transactions, assisting them in preparing businesses for capital raising, strategic partnerships, and growth initiatives.

As an Engagement Manager, you will lead and deliver with the assistance of an engagement team on engagements that may include initiatives like:

- Preparation of transaction collateral such as detailed financial models, investor information memorandums, and investor pitch decks

- Performing business valuations and benchmarking against industry comparables

- Supporting capital structuring and transaction negotiations

- Identifying investor theses, researching investor mandates, and evaluating fund strategies

- Actively engaging with the investor fraternity on opportunities

- Conducting synergy analysis and post-transaction integration planning

Team management: 10% of the time

- Lead deal support workstreams and coordinate team efforts across deliverables

- Review financial models, research outputs, and investment materials prepared by the team

- Guide analysts and associates on transaction analysis frameworks

- Ensure quality, accuracy, and strategic clarity in client deliverables

Firm-wide leadership: 10% of the time

- Establish thought leadership insights and materials

- Contribute to organizational goals and priorities

- Engage with key stakeholders outside the organization

What you'll need to have?

GOOD ACADEMIC RECORD with either CA / CFA / CIMA / ACCA / CPA or MBA / MS - FINANCE/ STRATEGY

Work experience:

- Minimum on the job experience of 4+ years

- Strong experience in client-facing consulting or advisory environments in India.

Experience type:

Candidates must have worked in consulting firms operating in India where they have gained exposure to structured problem solving, client engagement delivery, and project workstreams.

Ideal experience:

- Indian consulting firms or advisory practices serving Indian enterprises

- Big4/Big5 consulting firms operating in India

- Boutique consulting or advisory firms with strong exposure to Indian businesses

Preferred experience:

- Exposure to global consulting firms such as MBB, Oliver Wyman, Parthenon, A&M, Strategy, etc. will be considered an added advantage, but familiarity with Indian business environments and consulting engagements in India is essential.

OR

Experience working on strategy, finance, or transformation initiatives within organizations, such as:

- Founder's Office / Chief of Staff roles

- Strategy or transformation teams

- Management reporting and strategic planning functions

Role exposure should include:

- Leading small teams or supervising analysts/associates

- Managing consulting project workstreams and deliverables

- Engaging with senior client stakeholders in Indian businesses

- Driving analytical problem solving in complex business environments

- Delivering structured advisory recommendations

GOOD TO HAVE:

- Exposure to global consulting methodologies or international consulting environments

- Experience managing consulting teams or supervising junior team members

- Strong professional recommendations reflecting work ethic and delivery quality

- Experience working closely with leadership teams of client organizations

- Exposure to investment evaluation or investor engagement processes

- Experience supporting investment banking or M&A transactions

- Experience working in strategy offices or leadership teams

- Exposure to financial research or structured market analysis
