Role Objective

Lead the end-to-end Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) procurement strategy for solar manufacturing projects, driving high-value sourcing, supplier partnerships, and project execution aligned with plant expansion and strategic investment goals.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic CAPEX Procurement

- Oversee procurement of critical solar cell/module manufacturing equipment (e.g., tabber stringers, laminators, glass lines).

- Define procurement roadmaps in collaboration with senior engineering and project leadership.

- Manage high-value tenders and global sourcing strategies, ensuring alignment with business targets and ROI expectations.

Vendor Development & Global Sourcing

- Build and manage a strong network of international OEMs and technology partners.

- Negotiate long-term contracts and service-level agreements with suppliers to ensure cost efficiency and performance.

- Develop supplier scorecards with KPIs across quality, delivery, cost, and service.

Project & Cross-functional Coordination

- Align procurement milestones with plant commissioning schedules.

- Coordinate with civil, electrical, utility, and installation teams to ensure seamless equipment delivery and deployment.

- Monitor project-critical timelines for logistics, customs clearance, site readiness, and vendor mobilization.

Governance, Compliance & Cost Management

- Ensure adherence to CAPEX budgets, internal controls, and company procurement policies.

- Collaborate with finance, legal, and regulatory teams for contract approvals, LC handling, and import compliance.

- Drive cost reduction initiatives through value engineering and competitive benchmarking.

Process Optimization & Digital Systems

- Ensure accurate ERP-based procurement processing (SAP, Oracle) including PO issuance, GRN, and payment cycles.

- Lead CAPEX documentation, audit trails, and asset tagging in line with capitalization standards.

- Contribute to digital transformation of procurement workflows for better visibility and control.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering. MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain/Operations preferred.

Experience:

- 14-20 years of total experience with a minimum of 4-5 years in CAPEX procurement within solar, electronics, or process industries.

- Proven track record in global sourcing, CAPEX lifecycle management, and high-stakes vendor negotiations.

Skills & Knowledge:

- Deep understanding of solar module manufacturing technologies and cleanroom infrastructure.

- Strong knowledge of international procurement, EXIM regulations, LC operations, and government incentives in renewable energy.

- Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Excel/data tools.

- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
