Job Title: Vegetable Procurement Head
Role Overview:
- Eeki is seeking a vegetable procurement head who will be responsible for leading procurement strategy and farmer network development.
- He needs to build supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure consistent Grade A produce supply for B2B and export markets.
Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Network Development:
- Build and manage farmer partnerships across key regions.
- Negotiate pricing, quality standards, and delivery contracts
- Implement penalty/incentive structures to prevent peak-price dropouts
- Establish collection centres and quality control systems
2. Operations & Quality Management:
- Ensure GAP certification compliance across the supplier network
- Coordinate cold-chain logistics and transportation
- Maintain procurement cost targets while ensuring Grade A standards
- Track daily supply vs demand metrics and report to the CEO
3. Strategic Planning:
- Develop seasonal supply planning and risk mitigation strategies
- Identify new farmer prospects through existing networks
- Support export documentation and compliance requirements
- Build backup supplier relationships for supply continuity
Required skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agriculture or related field
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in agriculture procurement or supply chain management
- Strong farmer and supplier network in Rajasthan/North India
- Demonstrated expertise in contract farming and vendor management
- Proven negotiation skills with ability to assess and ensure production quality
- Valid driving license and willingness to travel up to 60% in the field
- Hands-on experience with fresh produce, vegetables, or horticulture
- Knowledge of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), FSSAI regulations, and export compliance
- Solid understanding of mandi systems and agricultural pricing mechanisms
