Job Title: Economist Long-Term Supply Forecasting (Contract Role with Ministry of Economy & Planning, Saudi Arabia)

About the Opportunity:

We are hiring on behalf of our esteemed client Ministry of Economy & Planning (MEP), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for a high-impact role within their Inflation & Supply-Demand Monitoring Unit. MEP is looking to onboard a professional with a background in industrial economics, market intelligence, or supply chain analysis.

This is a contractual position for 1 year, with the potential for extension based on performance. This role offers exceptional visibility, contributing directly to high-priority national initiatives under Vision 2030, while collaborating with multiple government entities including MoCI, ZATCA, Customs, sector regulators, and senior government executives.

Location: Hybrid Requires 50% travel to Riyadh

Compensation: Best-in-class; commensurate with experience

Key Responsibilities:

- Analyze current production capacity and actual production for critical goods and services across sectors in KSA and assess known supply pipeline and upcoming expansions within the Kingdom.

- Import data to understand KSAs current suppliers, global production capabilities, and market concentration risks.

- Assess the future production pipeline, including upcoming domestic projects and expansions.

- Conduct structured assessments (Cost, Capability, Competition, Export & Local Market potential) for high-impact goods and services.

- Propose strategies for localization or import based on competitive advantage, feasibility, and national resilience goals.

- Benchmark global supply strategies and localization frameworks used in comparable economies to identify best practices relevant to KSAs industrial development goals.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

- 4+ years in industrial economics, market intelligence, or supply chain analysis

- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills

- Experience in evaluating trade data, production benchmarks, and localization frameworks

- Familiarity with international trade platforms (Comtrade, WTO, ITC)

Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Economics, Industrial Engineering, or related field
