Job Title: Economic Modeler Supply-Demand Forecasting (Contract Role with Ministry of Economy & Planning, Saudi Arabia)
About the Opportunity:
We are hiring on behalf of our esteemed client Ministry of Economy & Planning (MEP), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for a high-impact role within their Inflation & Supply-Demand Monitoring Unit. MEP is looking to onboard a professional with a background in macroeconomic analysis, economic policy evaluation, or forecasting
This is a contractual position for 1 year, with the potential for extension based on performance. This role offers exceptional visibility, contributing directly to high-priority national initiatives under Vision 2030, while collaborating with multiple government entities including MoCI, ZATCA, Customs, sector regulators, and senior government executives.
Location: Hybrid Requires 50% travel to Riyadh
Compensation: Best-in-class; commensurate with experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather production, consumption, and trade data using official sources: VAT transactions, point-of-sale systems, Customs records, and sector-specific surveys.
- Analyze current production capacity and actual production for critical goods and services across sectors in KSA and assess known supply pipeline and upcoming expansions within the Kingdom.
- Analyze national and sectoral strategies (e.g., Vision 2030, project pipeline, private sector expansion plans) to identify long-term drivers of demand.
- Use AI-driven imputation and industry structure mapping to fill data gaps, standardize inputs, and improve forecasting reliability.
- Estimate long-term demand using a flexible modeling system that captures effects of income, price, and substitution/complementarity across products.
- Visualize expected evolution of the national economy, including input-output linkages and shifts in demand across goods and services.
- Benchmark International demand forecasting practices and tools, including AI applications and structural modeling frameworks, to continuously enhance modeling accuracy.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Minimum 6 years of experience with 4+ years in macroeconomic analysis, economic policy evaluation, or forecasting
- Experience with real-time data tracking and inflation forecasting
- Familiarity with tools like EViews, R, Python, or macroeconomic dashboard platforms
- Understanding of fiscal/monetary policy transmission mechanisms
- Preferred Backgrounds: Consulting (Big 4), rating agencies (e.g., CRISIL), or economic think tanks/research institutions
Education: Bachelors or Masters in Economics, Finance, or Public Policy
