Role: Manager Finance & Taxation (Family Office)

Reports to: General Counsel and VP, Family Office

NOTE: Chartered Accountant is mandatory.

Overview: The Manager Finance & Taxation will be responsible for managing day-to-day finance, accounting, taxation, and compliance matters of the Promoters Family Office. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in taxation, group accounting, trust structures, and promoter-level personal finance, while working closely with legal advisors, auditors, and external consultants. This position demands high integrity, confidentiality, and ownership, given the sensitivity of promoter and family financial matters.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Accounting & Financial Management:

- Maintain and supervise books of accounts for: Promoters (individuals & HUFs), Family trusts, Holding companies, SPVs, LLPs, and investment entities.

- Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closures.

- Prepare MIS, cash-flow statements, and consolidated net-worth statements.

- Coordinate statutory audits and internal reviews.

2. Taxation (Core Responsibility):

- Handle direct taxation including: Personal income tax returns of promoters, Trust taxation (Sections 161/164), Capital gains (listed, unlisted, ESOPs, real estate).

- Manage corporate tax compliance for group entities.

- Oversee TDS, advance tax, and tax provisioning.

- Handle tax notices, assessments, and reconciliations with tax authorities.

- Work with tax advisors to implement legally sound tax-planning strategies.

3. Group Structuring & Transactions Support:

- Support restructuring exercises, including: Share transfers, gifts, capital reduction, buybacks, Trust and succession-linked transactions.

- Assist in financial modelling and tax impact analysis for restructuring.

- Work closely with Legal & Secretarial teams on documentation and execution.

4. Investment & Asset Tracking:

- Track and reconcile: Equity investments (listed & unlisted), Real estate assets, AIFs, PMS, bonds, and other instruments.

- Maintain investment schedules and support performance reporting.

- Coordinate with portfolio managers, banks, and advisors on fund movements.

5. Compliance, Controls & Coordination:

- Ensure compliance with: Income-tax Act, Trust laws, FEMA / ODI / LRS (where applicable).

- Maintain proper documentation, audit trails, and records.

- Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, bankers, and regulators.

- Assist in setting up basic SOPs and internal financial controls for the family office.

Core Competencies Required:

- Multi-Entity Accounting Expertise: Ability to manage accounting for individuals, HUFs, trusts, and group entities.

- Direct Taxation Proficiency: Strong hands-on knowledge of personal, trust, and corporate taxation.

- Capital Gains & Transaction Taxation: Capability to compute and manage tax implications across asset classes.

- Group Structuring Understanding: Awareness of restructuring, trust, and promoter-level transactions.

- Investment & Asset Tracking: Skill in tracking, reconciling, and reporting investments and assets.

- Integrity & Confidentiality: Maintains strict discretion with sensitive promoter and family information.

- Stakeholder Management: Manages internal and external relationships professionally.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Education : Chartered Accountant (CA) preferred (MBA Finance / CMA with strong tax exposure may also be considered).

- Industry Preference : Family office, Promoter group / holding company, CA firm handling UHNI / trust taxation.

Education: PG: CA, Pursuing, First Attempt, Second Attempt, ICWA (CMA) in Any Specialization, MBA/PGDM in Finance
