
Role & Designation - Head - Product Strategy & Development, Capital Markets SBU
Job Overview:
- Responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and managing capital market products across equities, derivatives, structured products, and investment solutions for various client segments.
- The role blends market insight, product innovation, risk management, and cross-functional execution.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Define product strategy and roadmap for the Capital Markets SBU across client segments.
- Design and launch new products (structured notes, quant strategies, model portfolios, derivative strategies, etc.).
- Conduct market research, competitor benchmarking, and feasibility assessment for new offerings.
- Work closely with sales, research, risk, operations, and technology for product development and rollout.
- Prepare product notes, term sheets, performance illustrations, and marketing collateral.
- Define product governance framework including approvals, review cycles, and sunsetting.
- Monitor product performance, risk metrics, client uptake, and profitability.
- Ensure all products are compliant with regulatory and internal risk guidelines.
- Support sales teams with training, product pitches, and client meetings.
- Interface with external partners (brokers, issuers, exchanges, fintechs) for co-created solutions.
Skills Required:
1. Domain Skills
- Strong understanding of capital market products: cash equities, derivatives, structured products, ETFs, etc.
- Knowledge of product economics, risk-return trade-offs, and suitability.
- Familiarity with SEBI/regulatory guidelines on product design and distribution.
- Good grasp of different client segment needs (retail, HNI, institutional).
2. Technical Skills
- Quantitative aptitude for payoff modelling and scenario analysis.
- Proficiency in Excel and product pricing tools; basic programming/SQL exposure is a plus.
- Ability to interpret risk reports (VaR, Greeks, stress tests) and work with risk teams.
- Strong documentation and presentation skills for product notes and approvals.
3. Managerial Skills
- Ability to balance innovation with risk and compliance constraints.
- Cross-functional collaboration with sales, risk, legal, operations, and technology.
- Strong communication and training skills for internal and external stakeholders.
- Project management skills for timely product rollout and enhancements.
Qualifications:
- MBA/PGDM in Finance or related field; CFA/FRM or equivalent preferred.
- 10-15+ years of experience in capital markets product development / structuring / strategy.
- Exposure to both buy-side and sell-side product environments is an advantage.
