Role Overview:
The Director - Talent Acquisition will own the overall talent acquisition strategy across atom.
You will work closely with the founder, business leaders and hiring managers to understand the company growth plans, translate them into hiring priorities and build the talent pipeline required to execute those plans.
You will be responsible for both strategy and execution, including leadership hiring, recruiting processes, employer positioning, sourcing, recruiting operations and team development.
Key Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition Strategy:
- Develop and execute the overall talent acquisition strategy aligned with atom business and growth plans.
- Translate workforce requirements into actionable hiring plans across functions and seniority levels.
- Build scalable recruitment processes, systems and operating mechanisms.
- Establish hiring priorities, recruiting targets and measurable hiring outcomes.
- Build talent pipelines for critical and future hiring requirements.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
- Partner closely with founders, CXOs and senior business leaders on critical hiring decisions.
- Act as a strategic talent advisor to hiring managers.
- Own executive and senior-level hiring mandates from search strategy through closure.
- Establish structured hiring practices across teams.
- Challenge hiring assumptions when required and bring market intelligence into hiring decisions.
Sourcing & Hiring:
- Build effective sourcing strategies across direct sourcing, referrals, professional networks, communities and talent platforms.
- Drive proactive sourcing for difficult-to-fill and leadership positions.
- Oversee the complete recruitment lifecycle from requirement definition through onboarding.
- Build strong relationships with passive candidates and senior professionals.
- Ensure high-quality candidate experience throughout the hiring process.
- Improve hiring speed without compromising candidate quality.
Building the Recruiting Function:
- Build, mentor and manage the talent acquisition team as the organisation grows.
- Define recruiter responsibilities, hiring targets and performance metrics.
- Establish sourcing, screening, interviewing and closing processes.
- Introduce effective recruitment technology and automation where it improves recruiter productivity.
- Create a strong culture of ownership, accountability and candidate quality within the recruiting team.
Data & Hiring Intelligence:
- Establish recruitment metrics and dashboards covering pipeline health, time-to-hire, source effectiveness, offer-to-join ratio and quality of hiring.
- Use data to identify bottlenecks and continuously improve the hiring process.
- Build market intelligence around talent availability, compensation and competitor hiring.
- Use atom talent to complement traditional recruiting methods through AI-powered candidate research, screening and referral intelligence.
Employer Brand & Talent Network:
- Build atom as an attractive destination for high-quality talent.
- Develop long-term relationships with candidates even when there is no immediate open position.
- Build talent communities and referral networks around critical skill areas.
- Work with the broader team on employer branding and recruitment content.
- Strengthen atom presence among relevant professional and talent communities.
Inclusive & Contextual Hiring:
- Build processes that support diverse hiring and broader access to talent.
- Leverage referral networks and contextual candidate information rather than relying exclusively on resume keywords.
- Support transition and layoff-aware hiring initiatives where appropriate. atom talent includes dedicated transition-referral and diversity-hiring capabilities.
What We Are Looking For:
- 10 - 15 years of experience in Talent Acquisition / Recruitment, with significant experience leading recruiting teams or functions.
- Proven experience building and scaling talent acquisition operations in a startup, high-growth company or technology-driven organisation.
- Strong experience in senior, specialist and leadership hiring.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with founders, CXOs and senior business leaders.
- Strong understanding of modern sourcing, executive search, referrals and talent mapping.
- Experience building recruitment teams, processes and operating frameworks.
- Strong candidate assessment and stakeholder-management skills.
- Excellent negotiation and offer-closing abilities.
- Strong understanding of recruitment metrics and hiring economics.
- Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on when required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High ownership, sound judgement and the ability to work effectively in an evolving environment.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience hiring across technology, product, engineering, sales, marketing and business functions.
- Experience scaling a company through multiple stages of growth.
- Experience with executive search and confidential hiring.
- Strong existing network across technology and startup talent.
- Experience with ATS, sourcing platforms, recruitment analytics and AI-assisted recruiting tools.
- Experience building talent communities or referral-led hiring programs.
