Job Description:
The Director of Sourcing & Procurement is a high-impact, strategic leadership role responsible for directing the company's end-to-end sourcing operations, category management, and purchasing strategies. This individual will oversee a multi-million dollar spend across direct and indirect categories, optimizing our global supply chain network for maximum resilience, cost-efficiency, and compliance.
The ideal candidate blends visionary strategic planning with a hands-on execution style, building a high-performing procurement team while fostering deep, collaborative relationships with key vendor partners.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Sourcing & Category Management:
- Global Supply Strategy: Design, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive global sourcing strategy that balances total cost of ownership (TCO) with risk mitigation and business agility.
- Spend Analysis: Lead deep-dive analyses of category spend to identify cost-saving opportunities, demand management strategies, and process efficiencies.
- Supplier Diversity & Sustainability: Build and scale supplier diversity initiatives and sustainable/ethical sourcing frameworks aligned with corporate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals.
2. Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) & Negotiations:
- High-Stakes Negotiations: Personally spearhead complex, high-value master service agreements (MSAs) and long-term contracts, optimizing commercial terms, service levels (SLAs), and legal protections.
- Vendor Performance: Establish advanced SRM frameworks, utilizing data-driven scorecards and structured business reviews to monitor performance, hold vendors accountable, and drive continuous improvement.
- Innovation Partnering: Collaborate with key suppliers to leverage their capabilities for co-development, product innovation, and shared efficiency gains.
3. Risk Management & Supply Chain Resilience:
- Risk Mitigation: Proactively map the supply chain to identify single points of failure, geopolitical vulnerabilities, or capacity constraints, developing robust business continuity and dual-sourcing plans.
- Compliance: Ensure all sourcing activities strictly adhere to global trade regulations, anti-bribery laws, ethical labor practices, and internal financial controls (e.g., SOX compliance).
4. Team Leadership & Process Optimization:
- Talent Development: Recruit, mentor, and elevate a high-performing team of category managers, strategic sourcers, and procurement specialists.
- Digital Transformation: Champion the adoption of modern procurement technology platforms (e.g., e-sourcing tools, AI-driven analytics, automated contract management) to streamline the procure-to-pay (P2P) pipeline.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
The success of this role will be measured by:
- Annualized Net Savings: Realized cost reductions and cost-avoidance metrics across direct and indirect spend.
- Supplier Risk & Quality Score: Maintaining vendor defect rates and delivery disruptions below target thresholds.
- Working Capital Optimization: Improving payment terms and inventory turnover ratios.
- Procurement Cycle Time: Reducing the velocity from requisition to purchase order issuance.
Position Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is highly preferred.
- 10 to 12+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing and procurement, with at least 5 years in a senior management or director-level leadership role.
- Proven track record managing a broad scale of spend (e.g., over $100M annually) across complex international supply chains.
Technical Skills & Certifications:
- Certifications: Professional credentials such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) are strongly desired.
- Systems: Deep expertise with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and dedicated e-Procurement platforms (e.g., Coupa, Jaggaer, Ariba).
- Financial Literacy: Advanced financial acumen with extensive experience constructing total cost models and managing departmental budgets.
