Sales and Marketing Director - APAC
Location: Chennai(APAC region)
Travel: Regional travel across APAC countries
My Client is a global specialty chemical company focused on innovation, sustainability and operational excellence.
Position Summary
The Sales and Marketing Director - APAC will lead all sales, marketing, product management and operational functions across multiple countries in the Asia-Pacific region. This role is responsible for delivering profitable growth, driving digital and supply chain excellence, engaging customers strategically, and fostering high-performance regional teams. The Director will be a key driver to align APAC market strategies with company's global vision while addressing the unique challenges and opportunities in each country.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Growth: Develop and execute integrated commercial strategies across APAC, aligning with global growth goals. Lead cross-functional teams and champion digital transformation (4.0).
Sales & Customers: Set targets/KPIs, build a high-performing sales team, manage the pipeline/forecasting, and nurture key customer/supplier relationships. Ensure sales compliance.
Product & Marketing: Lead marketing plans for specialty chemicals (Paper, Water, Leather). Oversee product portfolio, pricing, new introductions, and market intelligence.
Finance & Operations: Manage P&L, budgets, and KPIs. Optimize the supply chain and lead technical support and contract negotiations. Ensure governance, risk management, and compliance.
Talent: Drive talent development, succession planning, and promote an ethical work culture.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Business, Chemistry or related field; MBA preferred
- 15- 20 years of progressive leadership experience in sales, marketing, and operations in specialty chemicals or related industries, with demonstrated regional or multicountry experience in APAC
- Proven record of driving sales growth, marketing impact, successful product launches, and supply chain efficiencies in complex diverse markets
- Strong financial acumen related to budgeting, forecasting, performance monitoring, and profitability management
- Expertise in digital transformation, customer engagement, and data-driven decision making
- Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with demonstrated ability to build and inspire high-performing cross-cultural teams
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Willingness to travel extensively across the APAC region
