
Job Title: Director, Pharmacy and Clinical services Application Engineering
Location: Pune, India
Team Size: 150+ (Engineering and Operations)
About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Pharmacy and Clinical services IT applications Leader to drive the design, implementation, management and delivery of large pharmacy and clinical software systems within the organization. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, functional knowledge, leadership skills, and product-oriented thinking, ensuring that engineering outcomes align with complex business objectives, enhance member experience, and adhere to healthcare industry standards.
The person will be responsible for leading the software implementation of our complex pharmacy features and other clinical software implementations to ensure on-time product deliveries with quality that meets the patient care, safety and regulatory requirements. This role is pivotal in product execution that meets the complex business requirements into effective product features in a timely manner with high quality and ensuring seamless collaboration across cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Execution:
- Successful execution of the pharmacy and clinical IT applications modernization initiatives aligned with defined product roadmaps.
- Partner with product management, solution design, and business leadership to prioritize initiatives that deliver maximum value.
- Ensure continuous innovation and adoption of best practices in product development and delivery.
Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration:
- Lead and inspire a large, diverse team of 100+ engineers across multiple disciplines.
- Foster a collaborative culture that encourages knowledge sharing, accountability, and high performance.
- Work closely with the Executive Director and other senior leaders to ensure organizational alignment and effective resource allocation.
Product Development Lifecycle Management:
- Oversee the IT application engineering squad development, testing, deployment, to ongoing maintenance and enhancement scope of work and ensure quality delivery.
- Implement robust processes to manage releases and quality assurance.
- Drive metrics-driven decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage budgeting and cost optimization strategies.
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting:
- Provide regular updates and strategic insights to the Executive Director and board-level stakeholders.
- Communicate complex technical and operational concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Lead risk management efforts and proactively address challenges impacting delivery or quality.
Team Development & Talent Management:
- Build and nurture a high-performing leadership team and talent pipeline.
- Champion professional growth, mentorship, and diversity & inclusion initiatives.
- Conduct performance reviews, succession planning, and organizational development activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience (18+ years) managing large engineering teams (100+ employees) in a product-development environment.
- Strong technical acumen in cloud computing & containerization (e.g., Openshift, Kubernetes, Azure), Java framework, message broker, DevOps and full stack technologies.
- Demonstrated success in delivery of complex pharmacy applications and platform services.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Deep understanding of product lifecycle methodologies (Agile, Scrum, DevOps) and operational best practices.
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with executive leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to USA healthcare domain, including working with pharmacy platforms and understanding of healthcare industry dynamics.
- Familiarity with compliance standards such as HIPAA and healthcare data privacy regulations.
- Knowledge of healthcare data technologies, interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR), and security best practices.
