Job Description:
We are looking for an accomplished Director manufacturing professional with extensive hands-on experience in Lithium-ion Cell Manufacturing to lead the commissioning, qualification, and ramp-up of a Pilot Line producing Cylindrical and Prismatic cells. This role requires a seasoned manufacturing expert who has successfully commissioned and stabilised high-volume lithium-ion cell manufacturing lines and can mentor engineering and production teams while driving world-class manufacturing performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead commissioning, SAT, qualification, and production ramp-up of Li-ion Cell Manufacturing Pilot Line.
- Drive manufacturing excellence across the complete electrode and cell manufacturing process.
- Optimise production yield, OEE, quality, throughput, and process capability.
- Lead process troubleshooting and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Establish SOPs, manufacturing standards, process controls, and best practices.
- Mentor and train production engineers, technicians, and operators.
- Collaborate closely with Equipment, Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Quality teams.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Drive process capability improvements through SPC, Cpk, Ppk, PFMEA, 8D, DMAIC, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Ensure stable production while maintaining world-class quality and safety standards.
Required Experience:
- 20+ years of experience in Lithium-ion Cell Manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience in commissioning and stabilizing at least one Gigafactory or GWh-scale Cell Manufacturing Line.
- Strong expertise across the complete manufacturing process including:
1. Slurry Mixing
2. Electrode Coating & Drying
3. Calendaring
4. Slitting
5. Stacking / Winding
6. Laser & Ultrasonic Welding
7. Electrolyte Filling
8. Formation
9. Cell Assembly
- Experience with Cylindrical and/or Prismatic Cell Manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of MES, SCADA, SPC, OEE, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma.
- Demonstrated leadership in training production teams and driving manufacturing excellence.
Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor's / Master's / PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrochemical Engineering, Battery Technology, or related engineering discipline.
