
The Director - Legal (India) will lead the legal function for India, providing strategic legal guidance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and mitigating legal risks. This role will partner closely with business, compliance, and global legal teams to support organizational growth and safeguard the company's interests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal counsel to senior leadership on business initiatives, contracts, and risk management
- Act as a trusted advisor to business units on legal and regulatory matters
- Support expansion, new product launches, and strategic partnerships
- Oversee drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial agreements (vendor, client, partnership, etc.)
- Lead complex transactions including M&A, joint ventures, and strategic alliances
- Standardize contract templates and processes
- Ensure compliance with Indian laws, corporate governance norms, and industry regulations
- Liaise with regulators, external counsel, and government authorities
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess business impact
- Manage litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution matters
- Coordinate with external law firms and counsel
- Develop strategies to minimize legal exposure
Key Requirements:
- LLB / LLM from a reputed institution
- Qualified to practice law in India
- 15+ years of legal experience (law firm + in-house preferred)
- Strong experience in corporate/commercial law, regulatory, and litigation
- Experience working with multinational organizations is preferred
