Position: Director - Investment Banking
Location: Across India
Experience: 10+ years (with strong deal leadership experience)
Role Overview:
- We are seeking an experienced Investment Banking Director to lead fundraising and M&A mandates, drive business development initiatives, and oversee end-to-end transaction execution. The role involves managing deal teams, advising clients, developing investor strategies, and ensuring high-quality deal execution across mid-market transactions.
- The ideal candidate will have strong experience in fundraising, M&A transactions, financial modeling, and investor engagement, along with demonstrated leadership in closing transactions and managing teams.
Mandatory Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant Investment Banking experience (minimum 6+ years in deal execution roles).
- Strong experience in Fundraising and M&A transactions.
- Proven track record of independently running and closing at least 3 mandates in the $5-50 Mn range.
- Experience managing clients, investors, and transaction teams.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Deal Origination & Business Development
- Lead business development initiatives and build relationships with founders, promoters, and institutional investors.
- Originate and execute fundraising and M&A mandates across sectors.
- Develop strategic positioning and transaction approach for clients.
2. Transaction Leadership & Execution
- Own end-to-end deal execution from mandate to closure.
- Provide strategic direction on deal positioning, valuation, and negotiation.
- Ensure alignment of deal narrative, financial data, and transaction strategy.
- Drive high-quality transaction outcomes and manage deal timelines.
3. Deal Collateral & Financial Analysis Oversight
- Oversee preparation of investment decks, financial models, and data packs.
- Guide teams in developing compelling deal stories using client data and market insights.
- Ensure consistency between historical financial data, projections, and investment narrative.
- Validate assumptions, projections, and growth analysis with strong data rigor.
4. Financial Modeling & Data Strategy
Review and supervise financial models, including:
- Common size and growth analysis
- Projections and forecasting
- Operating and financial data analysis
- Ensure projection accuracy and alignment with transaction expectations.
- Identify company strengths, risks, and value drivers through data analysis.
5. Investor Engagement & Process Management
- Lead investor communication and manage due diligence processes.
- Anticipate and prepare investor queries and FAQ documentation.
- Handle investor calls and presentations with confidence.
- Provide market sizing and industry analysis to support transactions.
6. Client & Founder Advisory
- Advise founders on investor expectations and transaction strategy.
- Coach clients to enhance investor interactions and meeting outcomes.
- Defend business models, financials, and competitive positioning during discussions.
7. Team Leadership & People Management
- Manage, mentor, and develop Associates and Vice Presidents.
- Ensure high-quality output, strong turnaround times, and technical rigor.
- Provide training and coaching to enhance team capability and performance.
- Foster a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent (Finance, Commerce, Economics, or related field).
- MBA from a reputed/Ivy League institute preferred.
- Strong expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and transaction structuring.
- Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
