Director Fraud Strategy & Analytics (Remote)
About the Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Director Fraud Strategy & Analytics to lead the development and execution of fraud risk strategies across our consumer lending business. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for shaping fraud prevention initiatives, driving analytical insights, optimizing decision strategies, and partnering with cross-functional teams to protect the business while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
The successful candidate will oversee fraud strategy across the customer lifecycle, manage a team of fraud analytics professionals, and work closely with Product, Risk, Data Science, Engineering, Operations, and external solution providers to continuously strengthen fraud controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the organization's fraud strategy across customer acquisition and account lifecycle while balancing fraud losses, approval rates, business growth, and customer experience.
- Establish and maintain governance for fraud policies, business rules, decision strategies, and operational controls, ensuring effective review, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor fraud portfolio performance using key metrics and proactively recommend strategic changes based on emerging trends and performance insights.
- Provide strategic oversight of fraud models, scorecards, and decisioning frameworks by evaluating model effectiveness, identifying performance shifts, and partnering with data science teams on optimization initiatives.
- Identify new fraud patterns, organized fraud attacks, and emerging threats across multiple channels, translating insights into actionable business strategies.
- Lead the evaluation and optimization of third-party fraud prevention solutions, identity verification tools, device intelligence platforms, and external data providers.
- Collaborate closely with Fraud Operations to improve investigation workflows, real-time monitoring, alert strategies, and case management effectiveness.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to enhance fraud data capabilities, decision engines, and monitoring infrastructure.
- Drive experimentation through champion/challenger testing, policy validation, and analytical assessments to measure the business impact of strategy changes.
- Develop executive-level dashboards, performance reports, and strategic presentations that clearly communicate fraud trends, business risks, and recommendations.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on fraud risk management, supporting regulatory reviews, audits, and strategic vendor engagements.
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing Fraud Strategy & Analytics team by establishing clear priorities, coaching team members, and fostering professional growth.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in Fraud Strategy, Fraud Analytics, Fraud Risk Management, or a related discipline within Consumer Lending, FinTech, Banking, or Financial Services.
- Minimum 3 years of people leadership experience managing high-performing analytics or fraud strategy teams.
- Demonstrated success leading enterprise fraud strategy initiatives and delivering measurable improvements in fraud prevention, operational efficiency, approval rates, and customer outcomes.
- Strong understanding of fraud risks across consumer lending, including identity fraud, synthetic identity, first-party fraud, third-party fraud, and account takeover.
- Solid knowledge of fraud models, scorecards, and decisioning strategies, with the ability to interpret model performance and guide optimization efforts.
- Experience translating analytical insights into practical business policies, fraud rules, and automated decision strategies.
- Hands-on experience evaluating and managing third-party fraud technology vendors and identity verification solutions.
- Excellent communication and executive presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional leadership teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline. Advanced degrees are an advantage.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience within Consumer Lending or other high-volume digital credit products.
- Familiarity with fraud risk management practices and regulatory expectations in consumer financial services.
- Experience building or transforming Fraud Strategy functions, including governance frameworks, operating models, and team development.
- Exposure to graph analytics, fraud network detection, real-time decisioning platforms, and advanced fraud analytics technologies.
