Position Overview:

- The role holder will drive all energy initiatives for the company, focusing on integrating renewable energy solutions into the company's data centers across India.


- This role involves strategizing for Datacenter power requirement, renewable energy adoption, policy advocacy, procurement, and execution, while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.


- The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in energy planning, sourcing, financial evaluation, and project execution, with expertise in captive and group captive solar/hybrid plants, power evacuation, and managing end-to-end energy strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

I. Renewable Energy Strategy & Execution

- Develop and execute a roadmap (short-term, mid-term, long-term) for renewable energy adoption across existing and upcoming data centers.

- Analyze market trends, regulations, and feasibility to identify and implement optimal renewable energy solutions and power grid.

- Finalize strategies for optimal sourcing of bulk power, including identification of renewable energy sources aligned with business needs.

II. Energy Procurement, Financial Review, Equity Structuring

- Coordinate with SCM to oversee procurement processes, including tendering, vendor selection, and finalization of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

- Load forecasting based on client requirement, finalization of RE technology and mode of procurement based on cost benefit analysis.

- Coordinating liaising with electricity supply companies, regulatory and other authorities to secure power.

- Conduct techno-commercial analysis and financial modelling for renewable energy projects to evaluate landed tariff, cost efficiency and reliability.

- Assess tariff structures, regulatory charges, and risk factors to develop effective negotiation strategies for project contracts.

III. Regulatory Compliances & Policy Advocacy

- Ensure renewable energy projects comply with regulatory and market guidelines, including open access and grid requirements.

- Facilitate power evacuation through effective transmission connectivity planning and management.

- Manage consents, permits, and regulatory approvals, liaising with government and nongovernment agencies.

IV. Project Management & Operations

- Oversee project execution, from planning to commissioning, ensuring timelines and objectives are met.

- Collaborate with consultants and internal teams to finalize project strategies and implementation plans.

Skills/Exp/Qualifications:

- Electrical / Power Engineering, or a related field (Master's in Management preferred).

- 15+ years of experience in the power and energy sector

- Renewable energy procurement, including captive and group captive solar/hybrid plants.

- Power evacuation planning, transmission open access, and grid integration.

- Policy advocacy and regulatory compliance.

- Very strong financial acumen, understanding of cost structure, financial modelling, and techno-commercial analysis.

- Managing statutory clearances, and stakeholder engagements.

- Proven track record in conceptualizing and implementing renewable energy strategies for large-scale infrastructure projects, such as SEZs and data centers.

- Should have worked on Power Purchase Agreements (PPA).

- Should have worked on MERC guidelines and Open Access Approvals

- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills, with a track record of delivering projects within regulatory and financial frameworks.

- Familiarity with energy storage systems and hybrid renewable energy solutions is a plus.

- Working in renewable projects in data centers or similar industries is a plus.
