Role Overview:
As a Senior Manager/Director in the M&A Tax practice, you will take a leadership role in managing and delivering complex tax structuring and advisory mandates related to mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, business reorganizations, and other strategic transactions. You will be responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of contemplated deals, advising on transaction structures, facilitating due diligence, and ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulatory frameworks.
In addition to core responsibilities, the role will actively involve business development initiatives focused on the Bangalore market and the Karnataka region. This includes identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building and nurturing relationships within the startup ecosystem, and engaging with key stakeholders such as venture capital firms, angel investors, and other funds. The candidate will be expected to represent the Firm at relevant networking events, pitch meetings, and industry forums, with the objective of expanding our client base and deepening our presence in the region's dynamic startup and investment landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Advisory & Structuring: Lead tax due diligence, transaction structuring, and compliance advisory for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic deals.
- Business Development: Build and nurture relationships with clients, investors, and ecosystem stakeholders to generate deal flow and drive revenue growth.
- Regulatory & Compliance Oversight: Ensure alignment with domestic and international tax regulations relevant to transaction execution and post-deal integration.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with legal, finance, and operational teams to develop and implement tax-efficient strategies tailored to business objectives.
- Market Development & Expansion: Identify emerging opportunities, craft compelling client pitches, and contribute to the expansion of service lines and market reach.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide strategic direction to junior team members, foster professional development, and promote a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Experience & Skills:
- Experience: Minimum 8 years in M&A tax, corporate taxation, or transaction advisory.
- Education: CA
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of tax implications in cross-border M&A and deal structuring.
- Networking & Deal Origination: Proven ability to build business relationships and originate transactions.
- Analytical & Strategic Thinking: Ability to navigate complex tax environments and provide tailored solutions.
- Communication & Negotiation Skills: Exceptional ability to engage with stakeholders, clients, and industry partners.
Preferred Background:
- Experience in consulting Firms, investment banks, private equity, or corporates.
- Track record of executing deal structures and advising on acquisitions.
