Description: A business analyst typically focuses on bridging the gap between business needs and technological solutions within the complex reinsurance domain, ensuring process efficiency, compliance, and accurate data management. Key responsibilities include understanding the reinsurance lifecycle, gathering requirements for system enhancements, supporting implementation projects, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, domain knowledge in treaty and facultative reinsurance, and proficiency with data analysis tools.

Key responsibilities:

- Responsible for gathering and documenting business requirements for reinsurance operations. This involves creating detailed documents such as BRDs, FRDs, user stories, and process workflows.

- Manage communication between business and IT to align needs with technical solutions, and support the design and implementation of these solutions by working with development and testing teams.

- Key duties also include ensuring data accuracy using tools like SQL and Excel for analysis and reporting, and identifying process improvement opportunities. Domain expertise in reinsurance concepts, including accounting principles like IFRS 17, is important.

- Collaborate with development, quality assurance (QA), and user acceptance testing (UAT) teams to ensure business requirements are correctly implemented and tested.

- Analyze and document end-to-end reinsurance operations, including treaty administration, premium and claims processing, and reporting.

- Evaluate existing workflows to identify inefficiencies, perform gap analysis, and propose solutions to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Configure / implement systems and support underwriting/actuarial/finance stakeholders

- Provide subject matter expertise for reinsurance administration systems, support system developments, and help manage system optimizations.

- Facilitate meetings, workshops, and walkthroughs with internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills and qualifications:

- Experience: Typically requires 4+ years as a Business Analyst, with at least 2+ years focused on reinsurance.

- Reinsurance knowledge: Solid understanding of reinsurance concepts such as treaty and facultative reinsurance, ceding processes, premium and claims bordereaux, and reinsurance accounting.

- Quality assurance: Perform quality assurance at all stages of development and ensure solutions meet business requirements.

- Technical skills: Proficiency with data analysis tools such as SQL and Microsoft Excel is often required. Knowledge of specific reinsurance or insurance software is a plus.

- Analytical and problem-solving skills: Strong ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and analyze data.

- Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.

- Educational background: A Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Business, Information Technology, or Computer Science is generally required.
