Dhamma Capital

Head of Capital Formation & Fund Raising

This is a unique opportunity to build the capital-formation engine of a new-age investment firm, in a partner-track role. We are thoughtful about hiring a polished, high EQ, relationship-driven professional who will lead the full lifecycle for investors: from introduction, diligence, and onboarding through ongoing service, investor communication, and portfolio updates.

Dhamma Capital is an institutional investment firm that advises two funds (AIF and FPI) investing in Indian public equities with a private equity rigor. We are building a world-class team committed to excellence in the craft of investing, with long time horizons and high standards.

Raising and stewarding the right capital, from the right partners, is central to that mission. Dhamma serves a sophisticated investor base of global family offices, institutions and private clients.

About The Role:

You will own the firms end-to-end capital-raising and investor-relations function (in collaboration with the founder): nurturing relationships with family offices, institution, allocators across India, USA, Europe, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, MENA; representing Dhamma in important rooms with poise and credibility; shaping the narrative and materials through which the firm is understood; build the disciplined systems through which capital formation scales; and over time, building and leading the business development team.

You will work closely with the founder and investment team, and your success will be measured over years, not quarters. Depending on a successful candidates experience, this is a Director or Vice President level role, that will drive outsized impact and build equity in the early stages of an institutional investment firm.

The role is primarily based in Mumbai, with flexibility to relocate in future.

Key Responsibilities:

- Originate qualified new investor dialogues and manage the full relationship lifecycle: introduction, diligence, onboarding, and ongoing service.

- Build the operating infrastructure of the function: CRM and pipeline management, a diligence ready data room and DDQ library, and AI enabled workflows for research, preparation, and reporting. Robust processes are the foundation on which an institution scales.

- Own investor communications in collaboration with the investment team, due diligence questionnaires, data requests, and meeting follow ups - all to an institutional standard.

- Represent the firm at conferences, capital introduction events and allocator forums across the world.

- Develop and maintain a prioritised map of the global allocator universe relevant to a concentrated India public equities strategy: institutions, endowments and foundations, funds of funds, family offices, and cap-intro partners around the world.

- Work with legal and compliance counsel to ensure all investor communication and servicing meets regulatory requirements across jurisdictions.

Who should Apply? Qualifications:

You have 4-10 years of relevant experience: fundraising, business development, private banking / wealth, investor relations, placement, or a client-facing role in asset management, private equity, or financial services.

Your prior network of relationships is a good-to-have, but not a must. Founder will help with ongoing introductions.

Traits (Very Important):

- Exceptional presence and credibility in senior settings, with the emotional intelligence to read decision dynamics, anticipate unstated concerns, and represent the firm with judgment and restraint.

- Understanding psychology is second nature to you. You grasp what truly motivates people, how trust is built and broken, and how decisions actually get made.

- You are a relationship builder for the long term. You plant seeds patiently, nurture them for years, and understand that the best capital comes from deep, durable trust.

- You have superb communication skills, written and oral. You can write a crisp letter, hold a boardroom, and tell a clear, honest story about who we are.

- You are entrepreneurial and high-energy. You thrive in lean set-ups, take complete accountability, and want to build an organisation that has your fingerprints.

- You are willing to travel across India and abroad (average two days a week), to meet partners where they are and to build relationships in person.

- A highly organised, process driven working style, with experience building systems and fluency with modern AI tools to scale individual output (firm will help with dedicated AI engineer resource).

- You are hungry for constant learning, self-improvement, and consistent growth.

- You have (or are genuinely willing to learn) a real understanding of fundamental value investing. You can speak about businesses, investment strategy and risk, with conviction and authenticity.

- You are comfortable with numbers and the underlying maths of the work, performance, fees, structures, and returns, and can engage credibly on them.

Who Should NOT Apply?

- You are solving for the next 2 years of your career, instead of a minimum of 4-5 years and preferably more.

- You think of fundraising as a target-chasing sales job, rather than the patient craft of building trust and scaling that trust institutionally through systems.

Compensation:

CTC will include fixed salary, variable pay, and ESOPs. It will reflect market norms and the value you add to Dhamma.

Performance linked incentives: Apart from fixed pay, you will be incentivised with performance linked variables that align with the revenue you generate for the firm. We want your economics to look like an Owners, because that is what we expect every team member to be.

Deadline: 15th Sep, 2026.

Due to the large volumes of applicants, we might only be able to respond to successful candidates. Thank you for your understanding, and we eagerly look forward to hearing from you!
