ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:

Position Title: Design Manager

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Business development & client relationship:

- Client retention and relationship building to nurture partnership and ensure profitability and continuity. Present new services and enhance existing relationships.

- New business development: Prospect for potential new clients and identify new avenues to generate revenue.

Lead and Develop team:

- Identify individual and team skill gaps and developmental opportunities to facilitate growth.

- Resolve team performance issues in accordance with company policies and procedures.

- Define, advise and recommend use of emerging technologies.

- Monitor the project lifecycle from intake through delivery.

- Provide thought leadership by considering the value technology creates for business customers while ensuring solutions align with the budget.

Design Development and management:

- Responsibility for multiple projects from start to completion.

- Identify clients needs and put together feasibility reports and design proposals.

- Lead the team in developing ideas keeping in mind client needs, building usage and environmental impact in line with architectural trends.

- Coordinate with design cell/3d team for building aesthetics.

- Present key project deliverables to client/consultants.

Drawing Management:

- Control drawing deliverables from start to finish to ensure high quality schematic and working drawings.

- Guide the team to ensure work is carried out to specific standards, building codes, guidelines and regulations.

- Work with a team of 8 to 10 architects/technicians to achieve deliverables on time.

Consultant and Vendor coordination:

- Coordinate with structural and service consultants for design development and execution.

- Coordinate with various vendors for material selection.

Client and Site coordination:

- Coordinate with client or client representative for regular feedback and follow up on project remuneration.

- Coordinate with project managers to achieve design deliverables in line with site requirements.

- Make periodic site visits to check project status and report on progress.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:

Qualification: 10+ years, Bachelor degree in Architecture (B. Arch or Equivalent).

Desirable: PG or Master degree in construction or project management.

Skills: Fluency in AutoCAD, Google Sketch up, MS Office. Desirable: Revit, Photoshop.

Experience: 15 to 18 years of experience with an architectural consultancy firm, with at least 10 years in mixed use or commercial projects. Leading minimum 10 people in last organization.

Should have completed at least two projects of min 1,000,000 sft from start to end.

Should have good networking with owner/top management of top 3 developers of city.
