Position Title: Deputy Regional Manager
Department: Retail Agency
Reporting To: Regional Manager
Geography Managed: Pan India
Direct Reports: Area Managers / Sales Managers (Indirectly)
Job Purpose
The Deputy Regional Manager Retail Agency is responsible for driving business performance, achieving sales targets, and building a high-performing team within the assigned region.
The role focuses on strategic execution, team development, operational oversight, and stakeholder management to ensure sustained business growth in the protection insurance segment.
Key Responsibilities:
Managerial Responsibilities:
- Recruit staff as per the approved manpower plan.
- Manage team performance through regular coaching, mentoring, and counselling.
- Drive team engagement and retention of talent.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Area Managers and Sales teams.
- Support continuous skill development initiatives.
- Oversee development and confirmation of LMs (Leader Managers) and DMs (Development Managers).
- Support initiatives to reduce DM group attrition through effective team management.
Functional Responsibilities:
Performance and Process Improvement:
- Support strategic initiatives to improve business performance metrics.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and assist in implementing new initiatives.
- Drive achievement of New Business (NB) budget targets across branches.
- Increase the percentage of branches achieving excellent performance ratings.
- Implement recruitment and training programs to strengthen the sales team.
Overseeing Day-to-Day Operations:
- Ensure adherence to budget targets and key performance metrics, including:
- Persistency
- Premium renewal
- Protection business
- New business growth
- Drive initiatives to reduce mis-selling complaints.
- Manage day-to-day sales operations, including planning and conducting review meetings.
- Ensure adherence to targets for:
- Active LMs
- LM Club members
- Minimum business guarantee per sanctioned DM
- Monitor activity plans of Sales Managers and Agents.
- Track execution of activities to ensure achievement of targets.
- Ensure completion of skill assessment tests within the defined timeframe.
Stakeholder Relations:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to execute strategic initiatives.
- Address stakeholder concerns and maintain effective communication.
- Build strong relationships with DMs and LMs.
- Ensure work completion within defined Turnaround Time (TAT).
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
Mandatory: Graduation in any discipline
Preferred: Post-Graduation in Business Management (MBA or equivalent)
Experience:
Total Experience: 15+ years
Managerial Experience:
- Minimum 9+ years in a leadership role
- Experience in insurance sales / agency channel management preferred.
Functional / Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of insurance fundamentals, products, and processes.
- Understanding of operating procedures and business development within the insurance industry.
- Strong leadership, team management, and performance
