Description: We are hiring a Deputy Manager Legal Compliance for a reputed sportswear manufacturing brand based in Chennai. The role involves ensuring end-to-end legal and statutory compliance for manufacturing operations, including corporate, labor, environmental, and factory-related regulations. The candidate will play a key role in entity setup, compliance governance, and supporting cross-functional teams, especially supply chain and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Corporate & Entity Compliance:

- Manage setting up of new legal entities in India, ensuring compliance with all applicable corporate and statutory laws

- Handle company incorporations, registrations, licenses, and statutory filings with relevant authorities

- Ensure compliance with Companies Act, MCA filings, board resolutions, and corporate governance requirements

- Liaise with external consultants, lawyers, auditors, and government authorities

Labor & Industrial Law Compliance:

- Ensure adherence to Indian Labor Laws, including but not limited to:

- Factories Act

- Industrial Disputes Act

- Shops & Establishments Act

- Minimum Wages Act

- EPF, ESI, Bonus, Gratuity, and Contract Labour Act


- Monitor labor compliance across factory operations and vendors

- Support audits and inspections by labor and statutory authorities

Factory & Environmental Compliance:

- Ensure compliance with Factories Act, local municipal laws, and safety regulations

- Oversee environmental compliances including pollution control board approvals, waste management, and sustainability regulations

- Coordinate with EHS teams to ensure regulatory adherence

- Maintain statutory registers and compliance documentation for factories

CSR & Social Compliance:

- Handle CSR-related compliances applicable to manufacturing units

- Support CSR initiatives in alignment with statutory and corporate requirements

- Ensure compliance with social accountability and ethical standards

Supply Chain & Operations Support:

- Provide legal and compliance support to supply chain, procurement, and operations teams

- Review and vet contracts, agreements, MOUs, and vendor documentation

- Support compliance requirements for domestic and international suppliers

- Assist in risk assessment and mitigation for operational activities

Compliance Monitoring & Reporting:

- Track changes in laws and regulations and assess business impact

- Prepare compliance reports and dashboards for management review

- Ensure timely renewals of licenses, permits, and statutory approvals

- Support internal and external audits related to legal and statutory compliance
