Job Description: Deputy Head - Construction

Role Summary:

Based out of the Corporate Headquarters in Mumbai, the Deputy Head - Construction will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for multiple large-scale, fast-track industrial and logistics infrastructure projects across various geographic locations. Reporting directly to the Head of Projects, this role demands a hardcore construction professional who can balance corporate stakeholder alignment in Mumbai with frequent site visits to drive complete project lifecycles, enforce strict safety and quality standards, and steer diverse contracting partners.

Key Information:

- Position Title: Deputy Head - Construction

- Reporting To: Head of Projects

- Location: Corporate HQ - Mumbai (with extensive pan-India travel to project sites)

- Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering (Mandatory); M.E. / M.Tech in Construction Management (Preferred)

- Experience: 18 - 22 years of core execution experience

- Target Industry: Tier-1 Construction / Contracting Firms

- Preferred Background: Experience in companies such as L&T Construction, Shapoorji Pallonji, Kalpaturu, B.L. Kashyap, NCCL, Sumitomo, HCC, Tata Projects or Mahindra & Mahindra, Afcons.

Roles and Responsibilities:

HQ Governance & Multi-Location Oversight:

- Establish centralized construction governance from the Mumbai HQ while undertaking regular site deployments to review progress firsthand.

- Work closely with the Head of Projects to align site execution strategy with macro organization goals and business timelines.

- Oversee and drive construction delivery across multiple pan-India site locations simultaneously, ensuring execution matches approved master schedules.

- Successfully navigate and manage local environmental factors, statutory compliance, and regional community dynamics at each project site.

Contractor & Stakeholder Management:

- Serve as the primary custodian for contract administration, mitigating risks and resolving contractual disputes proactively.

- Manage, evaluate, and coordinate diverse contracting pools, ranging from mega Tier-1 contractors to specialized local vendors.

Project Planning & Operational Excellence:

- Champion end-to-end project planning, progress monitoring, and data-driven reporting to the Head of Projects and executive leadership.

- Implement the latest global construction practices, value engineering, and fast-track methodologies to optimize resource utilization and accelerate delivery cycles.

EHSS & Quality Assurance:

- Act as the ultimate operational authority for on-site Safety and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC).

- Enforce flawless implementation of the companys safety manual, quality protocols, and strict housekeeping standards across all active sites.

Leadership & Team Mentorship:

- Lead, mentor, and maturely guide multi-disciplinary construction, engineering, and project management teams spread across various sites.

- Foster a high-performance corporate-to-site culture rooted in accountability and collaborative problem-solving.
