DGM - Strategy

Reporting to: Group President - Strategy

Job Objective:
Support the Group President - Strategy on internal Group/ Company level strategy assignments that will shape the future direction of the Group. The primary focus areas will be in the space of Insurance & Financial Services.
Role Dimension:
- Keep abreast of global trends, key business and regulatory updates in focus areas and track the competitive space
- Contribute in brainstorming and ideation sessions, bringing forth relevant ideas and insights, clearly outlining the "so what" from the same
- Prepare key executive level documents to showcase relevant insights and imperatives, as part of the overall Group Strategy
- Identify new business opportunities (both organic and inorganic)/ potential partnerships/ acquisitions and evaluate the strategic viability and fit in the existing/future planned portfolio
- Facilitate the high-quality execution of the Group strategy in Group Companies
- Support the Group Companies in their strategy formulation and annual operating plans as required
- Establish and Monitor key metrics to evaluate strategic and operational performance of business entities
- The person must have vast experience in the Indian Insurance sector, having front ended Insurance clients, and with deep sectoral knowledge.
Role Interfaces:
- Within Corporate Centre - Counterparts in Investments, Risk teams
- Within Group Companies - Counterparts in Strategy, Investments, Risk teams etc.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Overall 8-15 years of experience, Consulting experience required
- MBA from reputed institute
- Understanding in areas such as strategic corporate planning, top line growth, cost management, portfolio strategy etc.
- Sectoral exposure in the areas of Insurance (General and Life) and Financial Services is mandatory.
- Implementation/execution experience
- Managerial capacity to lead teams and/or projects
Competency and Personal Traits:
- Analytical Ability - to assess overall market macro and micro trends, industry/ sector specific business analytics and financial diligence (market metrics as well as company specific financials)
- The person must have very strong stakeholder management skills and must be able to hold his own.
- Strong understanding of key strategic and operational business metrics that are evaluated in assessment of insurance industries
- Ability to independently build financial models
- Ability to quickly grasp and draw out relevant "insights" from analysis of large quantum of data, basis specific context
- Ability to Multi task with a structured approach to work planning
- Proficient in PPT and Excel skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills- confident, motivated and diligent individual with positive attitude towards learning
