
Our client, a Global Conglomerate is seeking a Deputy General Manager Litigation Lawyer (Mining Specialisation)
We are seeking an accomplished Litigation Lawyer with 15 years of experience. The ideal candidate will lead high-stakes matters involving mining laws, regulatory enforcement, environmental compliance, land acquisition, commercial disputes, and industry-specific statutory challenges. This role requires strong command over mining legislation, strategic litigation skills, and the ability to interface with senior stakeholders, government authorities, and industry regulators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage litigation matters under the Mines Act, MMDR Act, Forest (Conservation) Act, Environment Protection Act, and other allied statutes.
- Represent clients before the High Courts, Supreme Court, NGT, Mining Tribunals, Sessions Courts, and other statutory/quasi-judicial authorities.
- Handle disputes related to mining leases, environmental clearances (EC), forest clearances (FC), regulatory permissions, and violations.
- Advise on compliance strategies, risk mitigation, and regulatory exposures relevant to mining operations.
- Draft and vet pleadings including writ petitions, civil suits, appeals, applications, replies, affidavits, and legal opinions.
- Liaise with government departments, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders to facilitate mining-related approvals and resolve legal disputes.
- Manage internal teams, coordinate with technical experts (geologists, environmental consultants), and oversee case strategy preparation.
- Provide strategic legal support on land acquisition disputes, labour issues, commercial agreements, and contract enforcement in the mining ecosystem.
- Stay updated with evolving mining, environmental, and regulatory jurisprudence.
Candidate Requirements:
- Ideal candidate should come with 15+ years of experience.
- Open to look at somebody who has done litigation for the metals and mining industry
- Preference would be given to candidates coming from relevant in-house firms.
- Relocation candidates with experience of having appeared before the Mumbai courts and briefed senior counsels will be preferred.
