General Manager / Dy. General Manager - HR
Location: Gujarat
Summary:
GM/DGM HR plays a pivotal role in aligning business objectives with people practices across a designated business unit, plant, or region. Acting as a strategic HR advisor to business and functional leaders, the incumbent drives core HR processes, organizational effectiveness, change management, employee engagement, and talent initiatives that support the company's growth in a manufacturing setup.
Key Responsibilities:
1. HR Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted HR advisor to the business, enabling achievement of business goals through effective HR interventions.
- Understand business strategy and operational plans to align HR plans accordingly.
- Actively participate in BU meetings and capacity expansion programs to address workforce implications.
2. Workforce Planning & Talent Management
- Lead manpower planning in coordination with line managers and ensure timely recruitment support.
- Identify and develop high-potential employees through talent review processes and succession planning frameworks.
- Ensure technical and behavioural training needs are addressed
3. Employee Relations & Engagement
- Maintain harmonious relations and act as the escalation point for employee grievances.
- Ensure statutory compliance, disciplinary procedures.
- Drive employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs.
4. Performance Management
- Anchor the PMS cycle (goal setting, mid-year, and year-end reviews).
- Monitor performance trends and link outcomes to rewards, promotions, and development plans.
5. Organizational Development & Change Management
- Facilitate org design initiatives in collaboration with the corporate HR team to support business reorganization or project rollouts.
- Support change management efforts related to digital transformation, lean manufacturing, or restructuring projects.
- Drive culture-building interventions that align with corporate values and manufacturing excellence.
6. HR Analytics & Compliance
- Track and report key HR metrics: absenteeism, attrition, productivity per head, skill matrix adherence, etc.
- Ensure data accuracy in HRMS systems and generate periodic dashboards for business review.
- Ensure compliance with internal HR policies, legal regulations and audit readiness.
Key Competencies Required:
- Strong business acumen and understanding of manufacturing dynamics
- Ability to manage stakeholders at multiple levels
- Sound knowledge of labor laws, HR operations, and industrial relations
- Proactive problem-solving and change management capabilities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influence skills
- Analytical thinking and data-based decision making
Qualifications and Experience:
- MBA/PGDM in Human Resources / Industrial Relations / Personnel Management
- Additional certifications in labor laws, OD, or behavioural assessments preferred
- 10-15 years of experience in HR, with at least 5-7 years in manufacturing or core industrial sectors
