Deputy General Manager - Fleet Operations/Transportation Logistics

Description:


Fleet Operations Management

- Oversee end-to-end management of owned fleet assets, including trucks, vans, and other commercial vehicles

- Ensure optimal fleet availability through planned maintenance, timely repairs, and preventive servicing

- Maintain high standards of vehicle reliability, safety, and regulatory readiness

Route Planning & Optimization:


- Design and continuously optimize delivery routes to improve efficiency, reduce transit time, and control transportation costs

- Leverage route planning tools and optimization software to enhance delivery performance and service levels

Driver Management & Performance:


- Lead, train, and supervise a team of drivers, ensuring adherence to operational policies, safety norms, and service standards

- Conduct regular training, performance reviews, and coaching to promote safe driving behavior and customer-centric delivery

Vehicle Tracking & Monitoring:


- Implement and manage GPS tracking, telematics, and fleet monitoring systems

- Analyze vehicle and driver data to improve utilization, reduce idle time, enhance fuel efficiency, and strengthen compliance

Compliance & Safety Management:


- Ensure compliance with applicable transportation laws, licensing, and statutory requirements

- Develop and enforce safety policies to minimize accidents, breakdowns, and operational risks

Cost Control & Budget Management:


- Monitor and manage fleet operating costs, including fuel, maintenance, and repairs

- Identify cost-optimization opportunities and implement efficiency-driven initiatives to meet financial targets

Vendor & Partner Management:


- Coordinate with external service providers, transport partners, and maintenance vendors

- Lead contract negotiations, performance reviews, and vendor relationship management to ensure service quality and cost effectiveness

Continuous Improvement:


- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across fleet operations to enhance productivity, reliability, and customer satisfaction

- Introduce best practices, process enhancements, and technology-led solutions to streamline transportation operations

Role Requirements:

Qualifications:


- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline

Experience & Skills:


- 1015 years of experience in fleet operations, transportation logistics, or related functions

- Strong understanding of transportation regulations, fleet maintenance standards, and route optimization methodologies

- Hands-on experience with fleet management systems, GPS tracking, and telematics platforms

- Proven leadership, communication, and people management skills with the ability to lead diverse teams
