Deputy CHRO


Department: Human Resource


Location: Pune


Education Requirement: Masters degree in human resources / MBA (HR) or equivalent


Years of Experience: 17+ years


Industry knowledge: Manufacturing Industry (Automotive, Auto components etc)


Job Purpose:


To support and partner with the ED HR in driving the organizations overall HR strategy and initiatives across multiple business units and plant locations. The role focuses on strengthening the HR function through strategic workforce planning, performance excellence, employee relations, and operational HR to enable business growth in a dynamic automotive manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Strategic HR Leadership:


- Collaborate with the ED HR and HR BPs in formulating and executing the organizations HR strategy aligned with business goals.


- Provide strategic support in organizational restructuring, workforce optimization, and capability building initiatives.


- Act as a strategic HR business partner to senior leadership for key people decisions.


2. Talent Development:


- Ensure continuous capability enhancement to meet future skill requirements of the automotive industry.


- Developing organisational skill inventory and support business with supply of talent with various initiatives.


3. Performance Management & Rewards:


- Oversee the Performance Management System (PMS) ensuring objective, fair, and transparent evaluation processes.


- Support the ED HR in designing and implementing effective compensation, rewards, and recognition frameworks.


- Review performance data and recommend merit increases, promotions, and incentive structures aligned with organizational performance.


4. Employee Relations & Engagement:


- Ensure healthy industrial relations across manufacturing units by maintaining proactive engagement with employee unions and workmen representatives.


- Drive employee engagement, communication, and culture-building initiatives across locations.


- Foster a positive work environment that promotes collaboration, inclusion, and productivity.


5. HR Operations & Governance:


- Oversee HR operations, including recruitment, payroll, statutory compliance, and HR systems across corporate and plant HR teams.


- Standardize and strengthen HR policies, processes, and SOPs across the organization.


- Ensure HR compliance with all legal, labour, and corporate governance requirements.


6. Analytics, Reporting & Transformation:


- Use HR analytics and data-driven insights to support strategic workforce planning and decision-making.


- Lead HR digitization and transformation initiatives to improve efficiency and employee experience.


- Prepare and present HR dashboards, manpower cost reports, and productivity analytics to the leadership team.


7. Leadership & Team Development:


- Mentor and develop the HR team to enhance functional excellence and leadership capabilities.


- Build a high-performance culture through coaching, empowerment, and collaboration.


Key Skills & Competencies:


- Strong understanding of HR strategy, industrial relations, talent management, and compensation in the automotive manufacturing sector


- Proven leadership and people management skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders


- Expertise in manpower planning, PMS, L&D, and HR policy development


- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and communication skills


- High business acumen and ability to link HR initiatives to business outcomes
