Data Scientist
Experience: 4 - 8 years | Industry: Financial Services / Lending
About the Role:
We are hiring an analytics professional to build models and scorecards that drive lending and portfolio decisions. You will turn business problems into statistical solutions and present clear, actionable insights to leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Extract, clean, merge and transform data from multiple databases for analysis and modelling
- Analyse data to identify risk segments, behavioural trends, cross-sell/upsell and retention opportunities
- Build and validate acquisition and behavioural scorecards and predictive models using statistical and machine learning techniques
- Deploy models into the scoring process and refine them based on performance feedback
- Work with business and tech teams to gather requirements and resolve data or implementation issues
- Present findings to stakeholders in a simple, decision-ready format
Must-Have Skills:
- Strong hands-on skills in Python / R, SQL and Excel
- Statistical modelling: logistic and multivariate regression, decision trees (CART/CHAID), clustering, time series, survival analysis, boosting techniques
- Experience in risk scorecards and predictive modelling
- Ability to work independently with high-level inputs and manage own workstream
Qualification:
- Graduate/Postgraduate in Statistics, or Postgraduate in Mathematics, Economics, Data Analytics or Operations Research
