The Role:

As the Data Product Manager, you will own the design, quality, and usability of data across Gov's digital public infrastructure products. You will be responsible for turning complex operational data into reliable, decision-ready systems that power governance, accountability, and service delivery.

You will work at the intersection of product, data, and public systems, ensuring that data generated across platforms is accurate, trustworthy, and actionable for diverse stakeholders, from citizen, frontline staff and department heads to state leadership, researchers, and ecosystem partners.

This role requires strong judgment on what data matters, how it is produced, how it flows, and how it is consumed. You will define data products, metrics, and governance practices that enable adoption, improve outcomes, and reduce dependency on manual reporting or ad-hoc analysis.

What You'll Do:

Data product strategy and road-mapping

- Define and own data products including core metrics, reports, dashboards, and decision-support tools

- Persona-driven data design: deliver the right data, at the right granularity and time, to the right decision-maker based on real authority and constraints

- Sequence data capabilities based on impact, readiness, and adoption, not just technical feasibility

- Translate governance, operational, and policy needs into clear data requirements and product specifications

- Define functional standards for metadata, lineage, versioning, and access control

Adoption and evangelism

- Act as the internal and external advocate for data products and standards

- Ensure data products are intuitive, role-aware, and usable by non-technical government users

- Drive adoption through clarity, relevance, and reliability rather than training-heavy approaches

- Identify friction points in data consumption and continuously improve clarity and relevance

Collaboration

- Partner with government stakeholders to understand real decision contexts and constraints

- Collaborate with analytics, platform, and infra teams to ensure scalable, compliant, and explainable data systems

- Support leadership and ecosystem partners by enabling responsible data reuse and interpretation
