Position : Head - Stores & Material Management


Position Overview :


The Head - Stores & Material Management will be responsible for developing, implementing, and governing the complete Stores and Material Management framework across all Datacenter and Civil Construction projects. This role involves standardizing systems, ensuring material accountability, driving operational efficiency through technology (ERP/EIP), and providing analytical insights to management for cost control and timely project execution.


The position is both strategic and operational, ensuring consistency, compliance, and efficiency across all project sites.


Key Responsibilities :


A. Strategic Planning & Governance


- Define and implement Stores & Material Management policies, SOPs, and guidelines across all datacenter and civil construction projects.


- Develop centralized inventory control systems to ensure transparency, traceability, and audit compliance.


- Establish minimum/reorder levels and inventory norms for critical materials (civil, MEP, IBMS, HVAC, electrical, etc.).


- Drive digitization and ERP adoption (EIP / SAP / 10G or similar) across all site stores for real-time data visibility.


- Conduct periodic audits and physical verification across sites to ensure compliance and accuracy.


B. Material Control & Reconciliation


- Monitor and consolidate material receipts, issues, consumption, and closing stocks from all project locations.


- Review and analyze monthly MIS, consumption trends, and variance reports for management review.


- Ensure accurate and timely material reconciliation between stores, projects, and accounts.


- Oversee the return of unused materials from projects to central stores or vendors.


- Identify non-moving / obsolete stock and initiate actions for disposal, reallocation, or reuse.


C. Coordination & Support to Projects


- Work closely with Procurement, Planning, and Project Execution teams to forecast material requirements.


- Ensure continuous availability of materials while maintaining optimal inventory levels.


- Support project teams in site-level store management, manpower deployment, and process discipline.


- Facilitate logistics planning and inter-project stock transfers based on priority requirements.


D. Diesel & Consumables Management


- Oversee the centralized tracking of diesel receipts, consumption, and balances across all datacenter sites.


- Standardize templates for daily, weekly, and monthly fuel consumption reports.


- Analyze fuel efficiency, consumption averages, and deviations for management insight.


E. Team Leadership & Development


- Lead a team of Project Store In-charges / Regional Store Managers across multiple project sites.


- Build capability and drive a culture of accuracy, accountability, and process adherence.


- Conduct periodic training sessions on ERP usage, inventory control, and compliance.


F. Reporting & Analytics


Submit comprehensive monthly and quarterly MIS reports to the management covering:


i. Material receipts, issues, and closing stock


ii. Project-wise and category-wise consumption analysis


iii. Fuel and consumable cost summaries


iv. Non-moving and excess stock reports


- Present data-driven insights for cost optimization and working capital management.


Key Deliverables :


- Centralized inventory visibility for all projects.


- Monthly and quarterly material consumption MIS reports.


- 100% reconciliation between site and HO records.


- Reduced inventory holding cost and improved material turnaround time.


- Standardized and audited store operations across projects.


Skills & Competencies :


- Strong leadership and multi-location coordination skills.


- In-depth knowledge of construction and MEP materials, store management, and logistics.


- Expertise in ERP / EIP / SAP systems and advanced Excel reporting.


- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and data accuracy.


- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.


- Ability to enforce discipline, compliance, and efficiency across teams.


Qualification & Experience :


- Graduate / Diploma in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Material Management.


- 15-25 years of experience in Civil Construction / Datacenter / Infrastructure Projects.


- Proven experience in leading multi-site stores operations at a corporate or regional level.


- Strong exposure to ERP-based inventory and MIS reporting systems.


Preferred Industry Background :


- Datacenter construction and operations


- Industrial / Infrastructure / EPC companies


- Real estate or commercial construction firms with large-scale material movement
