Our Fund Services division specializes in delivering accurate and timely fund accounting, investor reporting, compliance support, and administrative services. We partner closely with global fund managers to ensure operational excellence, transparency, and industry-best governance across all investment structures.
Position Summary (Main Purpose of the Role):
The Fund Accountant will be responsible for performing end-to-end fund accounting activities, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of financial and investor reporting for assigned funds. This role requires strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment while collaborating with cross-functional teams across fund operations, investor services, compliance, and client management.
Key Responsibilities:
Fund Accounting & NAV:
- Prepare and calculate Net Asset Value (NAV) for assigned funds on a monthly/quarterly basis.
- Record journal entries for investments, expenses, accruals, capital calls, distributions, and other fund activity.
- Maintain general ledger and ensure all transactions are accurately captured.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS, or other applicable accounting standards.
- Assist with annual audits, liaising with external auditors and responding to audit queries.
- Prepare supporting schedules, reconciliations, and working papers.
Investor & Capital Activity:
- Process investor-related transactions such as capital calls, distributions, management fees, carried interest, and expense allocations.
- Maintain and update investor capital accounts, commitment schedules, and waterfall calculations.
- Support preparation of investor statements and periodic reporting packages.
Reconciliations & Controls:
- Perform bank, cash, position, and investment reconciliations.
- Monitor valuation updates and ensure accurate capture of fair value adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Client Support & Communication:
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand fund structures, transactions, and reporting requirements.
- Support client service teams in responding to client queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Participate in onboarding of new funds and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field.
- Professional certifications (CA/CPA/CFA/ACCA) or enrollment is an added advantage.
Experience:
- 25 years of experience in fund accounting, investment accounting, or financial services.
- Experience with private equity, venture capital, real estate, private debt, or hedge funds preferred.
- Hands-on experience with accounting and fund administration software (e.g., Investran, FIS, eFront, Geneva, Yardi) is an advantage.
Technical & Functional Skills:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and investment structures.
- Ability to interpret partnership agreements and fund legal documents.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, reconciliations).
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting (AIFMD, FATCA, CRS) is a plus.
