Job Title: Research Analyst / Senior Research Analyst
Job Description/summary:
We are seeking a Research Analyst / Senior Research Analyst to support our global buy-side credit research team. The candidate will be primarily responsible for preparing timely earnings write-ups for the assigned portfolio. The candidate will also prepare credit memos and update financial models. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial analysis and risk assessment.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Support a global buy side credit research team
- Preparing concise earning notes (quarterly) for the assigned coverage within tight deadlines for developed markets portfolio.
- Analyzing quarterly and annual earnings releases, investor presentations and earnings call to highlight key credit metrics, management commentary and implications for bondholders.
- Assessing capital structure, liquidity, leverage and covenant compliance as a part of preparing the earnings notes.
- The role requires regular surveillance of the assigned portfolio by proactively tracking the company events (including rating & outlook updates, regulatory updates) and other industry information sources.
- Preparing and updating credit memos (annually) including business and financial analysis, capital structure and ESG for corporates, financial institutions, supranational, sub-sovereign and agency.
- Practical experience of building and updating financial models including debt capital structure and covenant analysis.
- Quickly develop an understanding of the operating and financial metrics relevant for any new sector in coverage.
- Engage with client teams proactively and independently. Establish and maintain consistent standards and processes in credit analysis.
- Knowledge of data sources such as Bloomberg, MSCI and S&P Capital IQ would be an added advantage.
FUNCTIONAL & BEHAVIOURAL KNOWLEDGE
- Strong understanding of credit principles, credit review/appraisal, credit rating, report writing, capital structure, ratio analysis.
- Experience across multiple industries/sectors like corporates and banks will be added advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively communicate with clients through mail and over calls.
- Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Ability to think and work independently.
MINIMUM & PREFERRED EDUCATION
- MBA (Finance) from reputed institute / CA / CFA is essential
- Progress towards CFA (US) would be preferred
MINIMUM & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS
- Prior experience of minimum 2-5 years in credit research/analysis.
