Designation: Head - Credit
Product: Commercial Real Estate (CRE)
Location: Bangalore
Reporting To: Chief Credit Officer
Role Overview:
The Head - Credit (Commercial Real Estate) will be responsible for leading and overseeing the credit appraisal, approval, monitoring, and risk management of the Commercial Real Estate portfolio. The role requires deep domain expertise in real estate project lending and structured finance, with a strong focus on asset quality, regulatory compliance, and portfolio performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead credit appraisal and approval for Commercial Real Estate project loans and structured lending transactions.
- Evaluate complex real estate financing proposals, including project feasibility, cash flows, sponsor strength, legal structures, and risk mitigants.
- Ensure robust credit underwriting standards, policies, and risk frameworks aligned with regulatory and internal guidelines.
- Oversee post-disbursement monitoring, including construction progress, cash flow tracking, covenant compliance, and early warning signals.
- Work closely with business, legal, technical, and risk teams to structure viable and secure lending solutions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including RERA and internal credit policies.
- Engage with external stakeholders such as developers, consultants, legal advisors, and valuers as required.
- Provide strategic inputs to senior management on portfolio performance, risk trends, and credit strategy.
- Support recovery and resolution efforts for stressed or difficult accounts, including restructuring where applicable.
- Mentor and guide the credit team, ensuring skill development and high-quality credit decision-making.
Eligibility & Experience:
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in Commercial Real Estate credit, with strong exposure to project lending and structured real estate finance.
- Hands-on experience in credit evaluation, appraisal, and monitoring of commercial real estate assets.
-Prior experience with a reputed Private Bank or NBFC, specifically in real estate project finance or corporate structured loan businesses.
- Strong understanding of RERA regulations, real estate legal frameworks, and project risk assessment.
- Well-networked within the real estate developer/builder community.
- Proven exposure to structured real estate finance proposals and complex deal structuring.
- Experience in recovery management and resolution of stressed accounts will be a strong added advantage.
Education qualification - CA / MBA / Civil Engineer and MBA .
