Organization:
- TeamEngine is looking to hire a buyside credit analyst for a New York-based global asset management firm with assets across credit and private equity.
- The hired individual will be a part of the firm's credit investment team and will be working from its BKC, Mumbai office.
Non-Negotiable terms:
(i) minimum 3 years of credit experience in covering
(ii) North American or Western European (not Indian/Asian)
(iii) corporate credit (not financial institutions or FIs)
(iv) in a buyside (not ratings or investment bank) credit analyst capacity.
Job description:
- Primary underwriting: the hired individual will underwrite leveraged loans and HY bonds issued primarily by North American / Western European corporates for various purposes, including LBO, M&A, GCP, refi, dividend recap, restructuring, etc, across various sectors and company sizes.
- Post-investment monitoring: the individual will be responsible for financial monitoring of a portfolio of number of credits, including those that will be recommended by them on a go-forward basis. Responsibilities will include staying on top of earnings, corporate actions, transactions, and other events related to their portfolio companies and sectors.
- Recommendation: the individual will be expected to have a buy/sell/hold view on all of their portfolio companies on an ongoing basis and recommend new investment ideas within their coverage universe.
- Idea generation and collaboration: the individual will be expected to keep abreast of industry/economic trends, relevant news, and work with their team(s) to expand learning.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in covering North American or Western European corporate credit in a buyside capacity. Strong preference for individuals who have experience in investing in leveraged loans and/or HY bonds.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in finance from a top tier college. CFA Level 3 cleared will be a plus.
Preferred skills:
- Analytical skills: extensive experience in understanding and critically analysing business models, industries, KPIs, and credit risks & strengths. Sector expertise will be a plus.
- Financial analysis and due diligence skills: Excel modelling, with a focus on cash flow modelling to conduct credit analysis; comprehensive understanding of capital structures, credit-specific ratios, downside risk analysis, and investment risk/reward. Thorough knowledge of credit covenants will be a plus.
- Investment memo writing skills: writing investment memos to articulate recommendations and opinions to the investment committee.
- Communication skills: presenting investment ideas to the investment committee in a professional, efficient, and effective manner.
- Organizational and team skills: should be well organized and willing to contribute individually and proactively in a team set up.
