Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic Head of Costing to lead the financial control and profitability initiatives for our Consumer Durables/Appliances manufacturing operation in Punjab. This is a critical leadership role responsible for establishing and maintaining robust product costing methodologies that drive informed pricing, product feasibility, and strategic cost reduction across the organization.

The ideal candidate must be a certified Cost and Management Accountant (CMA) with a minimum of 8 years of dedicated experience in the manufacturing sector, demonstrating expertise in advanced costing techniques like ZBC and VAVE.

Key Areas of Responsibility (KARs):

1. Product Costing & Profitability Management:

Standard Costing: Establish, maintain, and rigorously control the standard costing system for all manufactured and traded goods, ensuring timely and accurate cost roll-up for new product introductions (NPIs) and periodic reviews.

Cost Reporting: Prepare detailed monthly and quarterly variance analyses, highlighting deviations from standard costs in material consumption, labor efficiency, and overhead absorption. Provide actionable insights to management.

Pricing Support: Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing teams to provide accurate cost data and margin analysis, supporting strategic pricing decisions and assessing the profitability and feasibility of product lines and commercial contracts.

2. Bill of Materials (BOM) & Cost Optimization:

BOM Management: Take full ownership of the accuracy and optimization of the Bill of Materials (BOM) structure within the ERP/SAP system. Ensure alignment between technical specifications, procurement costs, and production output.

Zero-Base Costing (ZBC): Implement and lead Zero-Base Costing (ZBC) projects across key product lines, challenging traditional cost assumptions and working with Engineering and R&D to define the true, optimal cost of manufacturing.

Value Analysis & Value Engineering (VAVE): Drive and champion VAVE initiatives in partnership with R&D and Procurement. Systematically analyze product functions and specifications to reduce costs without compromising quality, performance, or customer perceived value.

3. Cross-Functional Partnership & Control:

Procurement Partnership: Work closely with the Procurement team on "Should-Cost" modeling, vendor negotiation support, and analyzing the cost impact of alternative materials or vendor changes.

Production and R&D Liaison: Partner with Production to analyze cycle times, capacity utilization, and machine costs, and with R&D to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of new designs and component selections prior to freezing specifications.

Inventory Valuation: Oversee the accurate valuation of inventory (Raw Materials, WIP, Finished Goods) and ensure compliance with accounting standards for inventory provisioning and fixed asset tracking.

4. Digitalization & Compliance:

System Integration: Ensure that the costing modules within the ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle) are correctly configured and utilized to provide reliable, real-time cost data for decision-making.

Compliance: Ensure full compliance with all statutory cost accounting records, relevant tax laws (GST implications on pricing), and internal financial controls.

Candidate Qualifications and Profile:

Mandatory Certification: CMA (Cost and Management Accountant) qualification is essential.

Experience: 8-12 years of progressive experience in the costing function, with a significant portion of this time spent in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Industry Focus: Mandatory experience within the Consumer Durable or Appliances Industry is required. Experience with high-SKU complexity and multi-stage assembly is highly valued.

Technical Expertise:

- Proven, hands-on expertise in BOM management and detailed material costing.

- Demonstrable experience leading large-scale Zero-Base Costing (ZBC) projects.

- Track record of successfully implementing Value Analysis & Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives that resulted in tangible cost savings.
