Scope and Responsibilities:
The Corporate Accounting Analyst will provide operational and procedural support within the Corporate Accounting department, with a primary focus on revenue accounting - including investment income, management fees, and incentive fees/income. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensure timely and accurate accounting, reporting, and analysis of revenue-related activities, including investment income, management fees, incentive fees/income, related compensation expenses, and other fund-related transactions.
- Prepare, maintain, and own revenue accounting schedules, including management fee, investment income, and incentive compensation calculations, as well as related general ledger analyses and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Analyze investment management agreements, fee arrangements, and incentive compensation agreements to determine appropriate accounting treatment and revenue recognition.
- Perform revenue recognition assessments in accordance with US GAAP, including ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers), and company accounting policies, while maintaining comprehensive documentation of accounting conclusions.
- Prepare quarterly reconciliations of non-GAAP and GAAP results, focusing on management fees, investment income, and incentive income/expense.
- Prepare and post journal entries related to management fees, investment income, incentive fees, and other fund-related transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including roll-forward reporting schedules and preparation of variance analyses for monthly and quarterly financial results.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Fund Accounting, International Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Investor Relations, and other stakeholders, to reconcile cash activity and ensure alignment with financial reporting.
- Monitor daily cash postings and review supporting documentation for revenue-related transactions.
- Perform ad hoc financial analyses and support management reporting requirements.
- Participate in special projects, process documentation initiatives, and accounting policy development related to revenue streams and fund operations.
- Identify and support opportunities for process enhancements, automation, and operational efficiency improvements.
- Execute and maintain key internal controls to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with finance systems implementations and enhancements, including Workday and other revenue accounting-related initiatives.
Experience Required:
- 2+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant exposure to revenue accounting, including investment income/ management fees, and/or incentive fee arrangements.
- Strong understanding and practical application of US GAAP, particularly ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers).
- Experience within asset management, banking, private equity, alternative investments, or broader financial services environments is strongly preferred.
- Solid knowledge of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and month-end close processes.
- Proven ability to interpret complex fee arrangements, investment management agreements, and incentive compensation structures, and resolve related accounting issues.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
- Experience with Workday Financials or similar ERP systems is preferred.
