Projects Advisory

Role Overview

We are seeking experienced professionals to support and lead advisory, project management, and PMO engagements within the Metals & Mining sector. This role focuses on providing strategic, technical, operational, and project-controls advisory for steel plants, ferro-alloy units, mining operations, beneficiation plants, rolling mills, and capital expansion projects (greenfield & brownfield).

The ideal candidate will bring strong project management expertise, sector knowledge, stakeholder management capabilities, and hands-on experience with metals sector project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1. Metals Sector Advisory & Project Development

- Support end-to-end advisory across the Metals & Mining project lifecycle, including planning, feasibility, design interface, procurement support, and implementation monitoring.

Work on project development for:

- Integrated Steel Plants, Rolling Mills (Hot/Cold), Iron Ore/Coal Mining projects, Beneficiation Plants, Pellet Plants, Coke Oven & Sinter Plants, Captive Power & Utilities.

- Assist govt./private sector clients in achieving project readiness, compliance, and operational efficiency.

2. PMO & Project Controls (Owner's Team / Advisory)

- Establish and manage Project Management Offices (PMOs) for large metals projects.

Develop and maintain:

- Integrated project schedules, Progress dashboards, KPI/MIS reporting, Risk registers & Cost control frameworks

- Track schedule adherence, cost overruns, delays, and provide corrective actions.

- Conduct periodic project reviews with EPC contractors, OEMs, and internal project leads.

3. Technical & Domain Expertise

Apply deep technical understanding of metals sector processes such as:

- Blast Furnace & BOF, DRI/EAF route, Rolling operations, Material handling systems & Utilities & auxiliary systems

- Review engineering documents, project reports, commissioning status, and performance benchmarks.

- Identify operational gaps and improvement opportunities.

4. Schedule Review & Delay Analysis

- Review schedules in Primavera P6 / MSP for logic, sequencing, and WBS correctness.

- Validate baselines, critical path, float, dependencies, and progress alignment.

- Conduct delay impact assessments, productivity analysis, and scenario modeling.

- Recommend recovery plans, schedule optimization strategies, and mitigation actions.

5. Risk, Governance & Compliance

- Perform risk analysis covering technical, commercial, schedule, and operational risks.

Support compliance assessments for:

- Regulatory requirements, Environmental norms, Safety and statutory clearances

- Develop SOPs, governance processes, and audit frameworks for metals projects.

6. Stakeholder Management

Engage with:

- Government agencies, Steel plant leadership, EPC companies, Contractors & OEMs & Mining regulatory bodies

- Facilitate smooth coordination, conflict resolution, and information flow across stakeholders.

7. Reporting, Analytics & Digital Enablement

- Create high-quality dashboards and reports using:

Power BI, Excel & Primavera analytics

- Provide insights through forecasting, predictive analytics, and what-if scenarios.

- Support digital transformation initiatives in plant operations and project controls.

Qualifications

Education

- B.Tech / B.E. in:

Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Mining & Instrumentation

- Master's degree in Project/Construction Management, Business Analytics, or related field (preferred).

Experience Levels (Flexible Bands)

- Consultant: 3-5 years

- Senior Consultant: 6-9 years

- Manager: 9-12+ years

Sector Exposure

- Metals, Steel, Mining, Manufacturing, or Heavy Industries.

- EPC/PMC experience in metals projects is a strong advantage.

- Consulting background preferred for senior roles.

Core Skills Required

- Strong communication (verbal and non-verbal), client management & presentation skills

- Expertise in Primavera P6, MS Project & project controls frameworks

- Analytical, structured, and detail-oriented approach

- Leadership capability with ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams

- Self-driven, reliable, and comfortable in fast-paced project environments

- Ability to handle both greenfield & brownfield complexities
