Job Description - Compliance Manager
Role Overview:
The Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing compliance across all business verticals, ensuring that regulatory requirements, internal policies, and Compliance frameworks are effectively implemented and adhered to.
The role manages a small team of analysts and is accountable for marketing and product compliance reviews, incident and breach management, and embedding compliance frameworks across operations. In addition, the role includes ownership of business risk identification and mitigation as part of the broader compliance function.
The position works closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Operations, Legal, Marketing, and Partners to proactively identify compliance and risk gaps and implement sustainable controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor a small team of compliance analysts, including workload allocation, performance management, and capability development
- Lead end-to-end compliance review of marketing activities across all verticals, including campaigns, EDMs, landing pages, blogs, and partner promotions
- Validate pricing, offers, disclaimers, and promotional terms to ensure compliance with Australian Consumer Law and Spam Act 2003 requirements
- Conduct post-launch monitoring and audits of marketing campaigns to ensure ongoing compliance
- Review product flows and customer journeys to ensure compliant disclosures, consent capture, and data handling practices
- Conduct production validation testing for new product launches, plan updates, and pricing changes
- Ensure alignment between advertised offers and actual customer outcomes
- Drive implementation of compliance frameworks, SOPs, and policies consistently across all business verticals
- Monitor adherence to compliance controls across marketing, call centre, operations, and partner activities
- Identify gaps in compliance implementation and drive standardisation and continuous improvement across business processes
- Implement corrective and preventive actions and maintain incident registers and reporting frameworks
- Maintain risk registers and support development of mitigation strategies and controls
- Design and execute audit programs across marketing, sales, operational, and partner processes
- Track audit findings, recurrence trends, and remediation effectiveness, ensuring timely closure of actions
- Provide practical, business-aligned compliance advice to support decision- making and execution
- Develop, maintain, and periodically review SOPs to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and operational changes
- Conduct compliance due diligence during partner onboarding and monitor Ongoing partner conduct
- Ensure partner marketing and sales practices align with regulatory requirements and internal standards
- Ensure compliance with data privacy obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 and support the implementation of ISO 27001 controls
- Prepare compliance reports covering audits, incidents, risks, and key insights for management and stakeholders
- Promote a strong compliance and risk culture across the organisation
Key Skills & Experience:
- 5-8+ years' experience in compliance, risk, or audit roles
- Strong experience in marketing compliance and operational compliance
- Working knowledge of business risk management principles
- Strong understanding of Australian regulatory frameworks including Australian Consumer Law, Privacy Act 1988, Spam Act 2003, and Australian Securities and Investments Commission guidance (RG 234, RG 274)
- Proven ability to manage teams and cross-functional stakeholders
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
