Community Manager - Digital Learning Community

Upraisal.7 - 12 yrs.Bangalore

About the Digital Learning Community:

The Digital Learning Community is a professional community for higher education faculty across India. The community currently connects faculty through a WhatsApp-based platform and periodic Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs). The next phase is to formalise this into a structured, chapter-based network, giving faculty a consistent local, in-person touchpoint alongside the existing digital community.

Role Summary:

We are looking for a Community Manager to build and grow a nationwide faculty upskilling platform, anchored by local chapters in key academic hubs. This is a founder-style role for the right candidate - you will design the chapter model from the ground up, recruit and activate founding members in each city, run on-campus events, and turn an engaged digital community into a structured, self-sustaining network of faculty champions across India.

Objective:

Establish the community as a leading peer network for higher education faculty upskilling by:

- Growing and deepening engagement in the existing digital community.

- Designing and rolling out a local chapter model across priority states and cities.

- Creating a faculty representative/champion structure that can sustain chapters with light central oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

Chapter Development:

- Design the local chapter model - structure, cadence, charter, and success criteria for a chapter.

- Identify and prioritise cities/states for chapter rollout based on faculty density, institutional partnerships, and prior FDP reach.

- Recruit, onboard, and mentor faculty representatives/chapter leads in each location.

On-Ground Events & Institutional Outreach:

- Plan and organise physical events at colleges and universities across India, including chapter meetups, FDPs, and campus sessions.

- Build and maintain relationships with faculty, HoDs, and institutional leadership to open doors for chapter activities and FDPs.

- Help organise Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) across India, coordinating with the central team on content, faculty, and logistics.

Digital Community Management:

- Manage and grow the WhatsApp community and additional digital platforms.

- Onboard new members, moderate discussions, and keep existing members actively engaged.

- Curate and share relevant content, opportunities, and updates that keep the community valuable to faculty.

Coordination & Reporting:

- Coordinate with internal content, marketing, and production teams on outreach collateral and campaigns.

- Track community growth, chapter activation, and engagement metrics; share regular updates with leadership.

- Build a light MIS/dashboard to monitor chapter health, event turnout, and member retention.

What Success Looks Like - First 12 Months:

- A documented, repeatable chapter playbook.

- A defined number of active local chapters launched, each with an identified faculty lead.

- Measurable growth in WhatsApp/community engagement, focusing on active participation rather than just membership.

- A pipeline of institutions and faculty champions feeding into FDPs and other learning programmes.

Educational Qualification:

- Preferably a PhD from a reputed institute.

- A Master's degree with strong equivalent experience in higher education/EdTech will also be considered.

What We Are Looking For:

- 7-12 years of experience in community management, EdTech, or higher education outreach.

- Demonstrated experience organising physical events and on-ground programmes, ideally at scale across multiple locations.

- Experience building something from scratch - a community, chapter network, or regional field team - rather than only managing an existing one.

- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, especially with academic and institutional stakeholders.

- Comfortable with frequent travel across India.

- Prior exposure to the Indian higher education space strongly preferred.

- Structured and self-driven, with the ability to operate with significant autonomy while keeping leadership informed.
