Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Commodity Trader responsible for executing trading strategies, managing commodity portfolios, and identifying profitable opportunities in global commodity markets. The role requires strong analytical skills, market understanding, and the ability to manage risk while maximizing returns.
Key Responsibilities
Trading & Market Execution
- Execute buy and sell orders for commodities such as metals, energy, agricultural products, or derivatives.
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and global supply-demand dynamics.
Market Analysis
- Conduct fundamental and technical analysis of commodity markets.
- Track geopolitical events, weather patterns, and economic indicators affecting commodity prices.
Portfolio & Risk Management
- Manage commodity trading portfolios and ensure adherence to risk management guidelines.
- Monitor exposure levels and hedge positions where necessary.
Strategy Development
- Develop and implement profitable trading strategies.
- Identify arbitrage opportunities across markets and exchanges.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Work closely with brokers, exchanges, logistics teams, and finance teams.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers, customers, and market participants.
Reporting
- Prepare daily trading reports, P&L analysis, and market outlook summaries.
- Provide insights to senior leadership on market opportunities and risks.
Ideal Candidate:
Mandatory Requirements:
Experience: 5-10 years of experience in commodity trading or commodity markets.
- Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of commodity markets such as metals, energy, or agricultural commodities.
- Trading Platforms: Hands-on experience with trading platforms and financial instruments (futures, options, swaps).
- Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical skills for market forecasting.
- Risk Management: Experience managing exposure, hedging strategies, and volatility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience trading on major exchanges (MCX, LME, CME, ICE).
- Background in energy, metals, or agricultural commodities trading.
- Strong Excel, data analysis, or financial modeling skills.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field
- MBA or CFA is a plus.
